I thought a thread highlighting white or light coloured TRADITIONAL knives, ivory, bone, micarta etc would be a nice idea. Being a very weak photographer I know nothing about effects, I do find white knives difficult to shoot so I placed them in an iron frying-pan. Great for patina from olive oil&fats:D just don't leave 'em there. Out of the frying-pan and into the fire indeed:eek: Regards, Will.

Does this Bark River count as traditional? Bone White micarta for the handles.

Canal Street Half Moons in White Mica Pearl and Panama Linen micarta

GEC
#09 in MOP and White Pearl acrylic

#13 with White Micarta

#48 Trapper with Crushed Seashell acrylic, Improved Trappers and GEC made Scagel with Smooth Ivory bone

Hibbard Spencer and Bartlett MOP

Queen and Schatt&Morgan MOP

Great thread idea (and VU reference?) The frying pan makes an awesome traditional backdrop.

Willgoy: Which knife sees the most use for you? That's a great collection.

2Dead: I already have a Canal Street Half Moon Trapper in reclaimed barn Chestnut, I need a HMT like I need a hole in my head. But those HMTs in White Mica Pearl and Panama Linen micarta are real LOOKERS and eroding my better judgment!!

Many thanks to everybody for contributing.

Meako, 'your' frying-pan arrived to me via Sweden (its country of origin) Certainly more mobile than a flying-saucer eh :D Seriously, I like iron pans, some years back I got very suspicious of Teflon nonstik etc, it seemed to come off and stik in the food, can't be healthy

Trand, The Panama line on the CS s a superb micarta, I'd love to see more knives shod with it. You also reminded me of the Forum Knife, he got left out of this morning's fry up.

Charlie, all that aged ivory or other off-whites creams are really something to want. I have some Imperial Stockman in a nice vanilla delrin somehere.

Jack, a fascinating bolster on that example. Curious mix of threaded,rat-tail, braided/coined! Really something.

Here's another assortment on the pan: bone, acrylic x2 and MOP. 3 steels, carbon, sandvik and sterling-silver. Regards to all, Will

Funny how three of these knives look(ed) white until the appearance of actual Ivory:

Not that I don't keep coming back to this one-- I love GEC's "white bone."
