Hey all - just wondering who you use or how do you make your custom stencils for electro etching? I have looked at a few old threads and emailed a few mentioned to no reply (perhaps no longer performing this service) and looking for some good current options.

I order the stencil material from Patricia at IMG and make my own stencils. Not that hard to do and allows me to make a custom one-off stencil from time to time. Now I'm using the 10 watt diode laser.

I use my CriCut for my logo, but it's a simple one. I can do names/dates with it, but not small enough for steel info. Some guys use a laser to etch away nail polish painted on the blade and then electro etch from there.

I just had my local sign shop make me a bunch. I think it was $30 for 75 stencils.

I use a 15 volt 5 amp laptop power supply with the end snipped off. Connect one end to the blade with a magnet and the other end for etching

I've also used my 18v drill battery

So did you just give them the material to make the stencil, and they made it with that. Or did they happen to already work with it.

They used vinyl signage material. Same stuff that they use to make signage letters. They couldn't do very detailed or complex logos but mine is simple enough that they where able to cut it out on their machine. They just repeated the logo over and over on a large sheet and then chopped it up to little 2x2 squares with my logo in the center. The logo is about a 1/4" in size and centered in the square

Mine looks like this. If too complete then you probably need to go somewhere that specializes in this

Get a CriCut and you can do it yourself! I use my CriCut for my logo and can even electro etch jimping into the spine of a hardened blade.

I can also do names and stuff, too. Stencil fonts work well for those.
