Just like the title says.....who here EDC’s a Recon1? I had one in a clip point that I never really warmed up to due to the blade. But I just purchased a spear point off the exchange and I’m excited to get it in my pocket! I currently carry anything from a Delica 4 to a PM2 to a rat 1. And most recently a GB1. But there’s something about the recon 1 that I just love. So robust.

I don’t carry one everyday, but I do carry one pretty frequently.

They are a great design. I like that there are no liners to capture moisture and the sturdy lock.

When I first used one to cut some cardboard I was kinda surprised on how well it slid through. Cold Steel knows how to set a sharp factory edge.

I just recently got a spearpoint Recon1 and it's an awesome folder for sure. You may also want to check out the American Lawman. It is a little smaller and flatter, thinner overall knife but not much and a great little knife that has a choil to choke up on if you so desire. Congrats on your score also.

A Recon 1 spear point is in my EDC rotation. I really like that knife. Before I started exploring Cold Steel knives recently, my EDC knives were mostly Benchmades with Emerson, Zero Tolerance and Microtech in the mix.

I actually carried a lawman for some time and really enjoyed it.

I put off cold steel for decades and just dismissed them as junk you would buy at flea markets. Then a few years ago I Actually found a store near where I live that carried them. Once I got my hands on the recon 1 I immediately realized I have been missing out.

I only have an XL Tanto Recon 1. I've thought about the standard off and on, but I have a lot of steel, and don't feel the hole in my toy group. Any folder smaller than 4 inches tends to look like a toy to me, likely from my buying history. I dig the big Recon for it's build quality, it's unobtrusive flatness, and that it's 100% blacked out. Yes I'll pop it into pocket now and then. Who knows, I might grab the regular Recon yet. I'm recovering decently from Covid, on day 8, and still sitting on an unspent chunk from my last paycheck. Unspent money and time on my hands tends to turn into a new toy. I grabbed a Basher bat last week. I think that I have all I want now. A Shorty, a Basher, and a Crusher. Actually I have been on a Rat1 and 2 spree as of late.

Spear point recon one has been my main edc for awhile. It’s probably in my pocket at least 60% of the time. The other 40 split between a recon one tanto, delica/endura, and bugout.
The recon just seems to fit my hand right and feels like a strong quality tool. Not that the others aren’t just something about the extra weight of the recon and that loud snap of the triad lock up.
Ironically by random chance the delica had been in my pocket on a lot of the days I needed to preform harder use tasks. And in all reality it was more than strong enough and got the work done.

The Delica is a fantastic knife and will absolutely perform 95% of everything needed in a day. The bugout falls in the same category. I’ve carried both extensively at length and they never let me down. I also enjoy the Spyderco GB1 and PM2. I frequently rotate between those two most days.

I can’t wait to get this recon in hand again. I think it might be my dedicated after work/ weekend carry. Or possibly mixed in with the GB and PM2.

Edc'd a bhq exclusive desert warrior for quite a while ,awesome knife, only regret should have bought more...
For as big as they are they carry nicely,I do prefer the hollow ground blades, better cutter and the look of hollow ground just suits the knife, just my $ .02

My recon 1 can’t get here fast enough. It made it to the local distribution center yesterday and departed very early this morning. Was hoping it would make it our first delivery today, but it hasn’t updated again......maybe there will be a surprise in the mailbox when I get home! Man I hate waiting for stuff to show!!

Similar situation.
I never thought of Cold Steel knives as junk. Just cheaper than my routine Spyderco and Benchmade edc s.
Then about 7 or 8 years ago I went to a local sporting goods store and was browsing through the knife department. I saw the Lawman and the Recon1 under the counter glass and asked to hold them. Both had great ergonomics and appeared well built. Went home and thought about it. Came back a week or two later and bought one of each. Those knives changed my avoidance of black coated blades and soon after replaced a couple of others in my edc rotation. Now they are some of my best edc/work knives. And the first of my small Cold Steel collection.
