Hey Guys....

Does anyone know who made the History channel's Alamo Bowie ?

Caught a glimpse of it the other night, and it looked pretty nice..
Not much one for Bowies,, but that knife sure was nice...

Hey ..

Naaa I don't think so..
This was a custom job...

Usually with movies like this, especially with this budget,, they get custom work done...

That wasn't No Frost or Chip-Away Cutlery Bowie...

I think there's an article n that bowie in the newest Knife Illustrated magazine, and the maker was also featured. Can someone who has that magazine check that out please ? Otherwise I'd have to go to the bookstore tomorrow evening.

I'm really curious about this myself, but are we talking about the same movie? I just got through pausing my way through the trailer for The Alamo and got a decent shot of the knife that Jason Patric is carrying as Jim Bowie. It looks like a wider-bladed knife, with a more pronounced clip than the Stapel Bowie. And the one Patric is carrying definitely has a brass spine.
Maybe I'm hallucinating, though. Some of y'all go over to the IMDB and check out the trailer. The really good shot is at two minutes, eleven seconds.

I'm not sure that knife that will be in the movie, and the one featured on the History Channel, are the same knife.

Hah. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who's seen the Bowie with the brass welded to the spine.
Actually, to my eye, the blade in the trailer is more graceful than the Stapel Bowie. Not to say that I don't like the Stapel Bowie, but it just doesn't grab me as much.

I saw the History Channel Bowie and the Knives Illustrated Bowie (from the "Alamo" movie). I would think the History Channel version might be believeable. The Movie version is nothing like Bowies which have been associated with Jim Bowie. The movie version looks like IMHO a Bagwell fighter. A cool knife, but way ahead of it's time.

Saw same.

Replica of the bowie knife owned by Joe Musso.

Several stories on this knife in the past.

I saw/handled this knife (the original) in LA when visiting Joe for a story on it and his incredible study/research on Bowie.

It is incredible piece of cutlery work. Large, but very light and fast.

Joe has done extensive research and testing on the knife and believes it to have been one of Bowie's knives. I'd have to agree after interviewing him and seeing the quality of the research he's done.

Believe this is why the knife made the History Channel special...authentic in terms of the quality of research done for the mini movie.

No idea who made the knife used in the special. Good question.

Thank you kindly, sir. With that bit of information, I was able to find this URL. Looks very like the one in the trailer for the movie.
