Who makes Gryphon Knives?

For my birthday I was pleasantly surprised with a Gryphon M35 Terzuola combat knife.

Curious, I began to look up Gryphon online, but the only references I could find were those for retailers. I'm curious as to who actually manufactures these blades and what company actually "is" Gryphon.

Can anyone here point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance,

Adam

The Gryphon line is manufactured exclusively for the Cutlery Shoppe, as far as I know. This is where I get them for resale in my Drawpoint sheaths.

For years Cutlery Shoppe was the exclusive retailer for these Japanese knives, now a few others carry them, perhaps under agreement with Cutlery Shoppe.

You might try e-mailing them and asking which Japanese contractor is their source, while they might not tell you straight out, they might give you a little clue. It's probably one of the better ones.

Hi Adam,

As mentioned, Cutlery Shoppe produced the models (There were 2 Bob Terzuola designs).

They are excellent classic Bob T designs. They are made in Seki-City, Japan by one of the best makers in Seki.

You can't go wrong by owning one.

stormbird, I lived by Lake Lowell (between Nampa and Caldwell). Remember the Cutlery Shoppe's annual sidewalk sale! I never left there without spending at least $100 and sometimes much more!

Well there's the word. I wasn't sure about them but I liked the designs.

The Gryphon M-10 is a classic in some circles. It is the knife James A. Keating used for his Drawpoint Video. Original title was "Drawpoint: the M-10 System". About the fastest response to a surprise attack. Knife is carried IWB, and from wherever your hand is when the attack occurs, it grabs the handle and puts the point on whatever is coming in, or targets the eye area. Very fast!! The factory sheath is made by Robert Hummelbaugh of Survival Sheath Systems, and is an excellent field or shoulder rig. My Drawpoint Sheath (my standard IWB sheath) is obviously set up to optimize JAK's Drawpoint System.

I have the ATS-34 version with a kydex sheath. It is my favorite fixed blade.I have went thru a lot of knives,sell/trade but this one will stay to the end.

Is the M-10 sold in ATS-34 anymore? If so where? I have the M1A1 in ATS-34. It is magic. Not to be a knife snob but blades made with AUS-8 normally cost 50.00 not 100.00. I would pay for an M-10 in ATS-34.
