Well, the thread title pretty much says it all. I was wondering if they are a subsidiary of IMI with an American importer, as with the Desert Eagles, or if they're put out by some crap company like United. I hope not, since I really like the look of the Defender Fixed Blade, but I suspect that might be true. Info is much appreciated.

Nevermind, I just did an Internet search, as I feared they're made by United. Bummer, it looks like a cool design, but i have no faith in United whatsoever.

I've handled them in person, and they are very well made, and made in the USA. Some United stuff is crap for sure, but the Uzi folder was top notch.

Just to clarify. United doesn't make knives. They never have. They are an importer and distributor of knives. They import and distribute some nice products, as it turns out. An example is the Henckels slip joint folders which are made by Boker. Others are at the low end. It is a varied product line to be sure and one of the broadest lines in the industry.

Thanks for the clarification everyone, now for question # 2, does anyone know what steel is used, I found several websites that claim 420 and several more that claim it's 440. Does anyone know which is correct?
