An urumi is a rare indian flexible sword that is guaranteed to turn the first time exprimental user into ground beef. These things were carried either with the blade or blades rolled up, or simply wraped around the waste as a belt. I just wanted to share an interesting clip found on the internet.

This is one of those swords that you hand to you opponent; and if he doesn't off himself within the first 3 seconds, you would be well advised to run very-very-fast.

Urumi? My clotting factor is not good enough. I'm reminded of a clip that I saw recently of a novice wielding a three section staff and striking himself in the groin with it. As unpleasant as that would be, I'd imagine it to be infinitely less pleasant with an urumi and that would be just my luck. No, thank you. I hit myself too often with less demanding weapons as it is.

Sjambok? Tempting. I have no real need for one, but that never stopped me before. ;)

If you want to see an urumi in action, rent the movie ASOKA

It's Bollywood, so expect 'em to break into song and dance at the drop of a hat, but "eye candy" for blade lovers includes urumis, katars, talwars, and others. Some pretty cute little gals too. ;)

"Now a days it is often made from used Band-saw blades." Yeah, no thanks. I'll pass on this blade unless I'm wearing armor
And even then... :(

Man, I've tried playing around with a three section staff, and even that's sketchy. I'll definately pass.

Excellent movie about empire-building, with lots of battles, action, adventure,
beautiful exotic women,as well as the mandatory songs, etc.
