I don't get it really. In the exchange, 95% of the sales will ship CONUS only.

Maybe i'm mistaken, but it's not that hard to ship it to Canada is it?

Can someone enlighten me on why not very many people will ship here?

uhh...sorry for the typo in the title. :(

Generally if you send a quick msg folks don't seem to mind in my experience. We are America's hat afterall (or they're our underpants??) *ducks for cover*

Edit, then go advanced to change title. Usually if you offer to pay for extra shipping most will ship to Canada. It has worked for me.

You can edit that.

It's because Customs/taxes/fees can be a real pain. Personally I will ship basically anywhere, but once it leaves the US there's almost nothing I can do if it gets lost/stolen/confiscated, and I'm told shipping insurance is almost useless across borders, so at that point the buyer assumes all risk. It's unfortunate.

lots of horrible stories in GBU about country to country shipping

Since the seller is responsible for the package until it arrives, the risk is on him/her.

First of all because it is a bit of a hassle filling out all the paperwork, but most importantly it's because there could POTENTIALLY be an issue with customs. I remembered a few months back there was a guy who started a thread saying he shipped an umnumzaan to Australia and it got seized by customs..... the buyer ended up filing a claim on paypal and got his money back. The seller was out a knife and money.

I personally have had no issues shipping knives to Asia and Europe, but incidents like the one I stated above makes me think twice. Unless I'm having a really difficult time selling a knife I would prefer to ship CONUS, and if I do ship it internationally I would make it VERY clear that once the knife leaves my hand, I am no longer responsible for whatever happens to it.

Laughed pretty at the title.

I don't do it because paypal is pretty bad regarding covering the seller. They usually protect the buyer. I've heard plenty of horror stories involving someone sending a package and then the buyer filing a claim that they did not receive it. Although this rarely happens, if it happens once and I'm out $300-$400 dollars I'd be pretty upset. I don't have a disposable income, so that would put quite a dent in my knife collection. I'd rather stick with inside of the US, and maybe not sell it for as much (5-10 dollars less) but sleep soundly at night.

It's always odd for me, and I'd imagine for any of my Alaskan counter parts... Being in Hawaii, we're "a part of the US" and yet a part from the US. I always ask about shipping before I purchase... It doesn't feel right to have to but I've been burnt on that sort of thing before.

Probably the same reason people post Exchange question in General Knife discussion (where knife discussions take place), rather than posting the question in the Feedback section (where these threads should go). Just a guess though.

Same here, though there are risks with any shipping. But I figure that if I can minimize the risk - and CONUS does that - then thats what I'll do. Its nothing personal.

Most sh**t CONUS because thats where their outhouses are located.:D
I think a lot of the posters say shipped Conus in asfar as the included price goes, but are willing to if you ask. I think you're off base here.

+1 this is why I don't do it anymore.

It's a risk/reward issue. Why sell over the boarder when there are plenty of people in the US buying knives? If I ship outside the USA, I take more risk, I don't make any more money, and I spend more time on the transaction.
I am not really sure why it's hard to understand why people don't want to do this.

This seems to get asked alot.

You can edit the title if you use the "advanced" tab.
