Why does the new software not hold my login?

what??....whoever, I don't care, just show you care....most people have families and a life. It took me 30 seconds to respond to this thread....This area is for Tech support...correct?
Well leave. I don't care.

Change your bookmark to https://www.bladeforums.com, clear your cookies/cache, and then read this post:

If you don't click on the problem buttons, you won't get logged out. If you do get logged out, click the back button on your browser and try again. If you clicked a link and it logs you out, click the back button in your browser and copy/paste the link into your browser's address bar to modify it so it starts with 'https://www.', then you can go to the link without being logged out.

... If you click a link in a BF email notification (to go to the post linked via the email message), you will be logged out, and your properly-saved https bookmarks will maintain this logged-out status-- they won't 'work'-- until you log in again.

At least, this is how it works for me.

Waaaaay annoying, especially on my phone-- which is where/when email notifications are most valuable to me, and when I typically have the least time to futz.

Yes, I hope this fixed soon.

I can be logged in and click on other links , like to view a deal thread or anywhere else here and I'm logged right out. Very annoying and it has gone on a long time. Somebody should be able to fix it.

I have been having the same problem and i think i found the issue (for me anyway).

I use the "bladeforums" logo at the top left of the page to get back to the main directory and that is what is logging me out because that is the only link that dosnt have https before it.

Does anybody else use the logo to get around the forums???

When you do have to log back in again, are you check-marking the 'Stay logged in' checkbox underneath the username & password fields as you do so? By default, the box is un-checked at login, until you put a check in the box. If you don't, that may explain why you're forced to log in each time, as opposed to just being automatically reconnected under your own account.

I believe the 'Stay logged in' status (when checking the box) is saved to your system as a cookie, so the logged-in status should still be valid when you reconnect via any one of the 'https' links. If you clear all cookies, either on your own, or automatically in your browser settings, that logged-in status goes away.

Win 10, Chrome...I have to log in whenever I come to BF. I've tried clearing caches, etc...nothing has fixed it.

I thought I did (I usually do check that box, across devices, as a matter of habit...?), but just tried following a BF-emailed link to arrive at a You Can't See This (Not Logged In) page, logged-in with the box very deliberately Checked, and my bookmarks still worked. Thanks for the tip.

In the meantime, whenever I receive an emailed notification I go to the web site directly and poke around instead of clicking on the provided link.

Because it's waaaaaay annoying to be notified of a Private Message, say, or even an updated thread, and be immediately logged out upon trying to read it.

Links to Bladeforums generated via the Bladeforums Notification System and emailed via Bladeforums to Bladeforums' members should work.

Please? Soon?

We shouldn't have to do work arounds to have this working correctly plain and simple. This has been a problem for awhile now and all the work arounds only seem to be temporary. Since moving to the new layout it's been a headache with missing options etc etc.
I thought it had been resolved. All you need to do is edit your bookmarks to change the http:// prefix to https://. I did and everything now works as it did before.

Not that Spark or anyone else probably cares ... but, I hate the new layout. Half the stuff either doesn't work or is gone. Finding things that used to be right there takes several steps of searching ( like a member's location). It seems to me that every week there is a new problem. I think people will leave because they don't think they are getting enough for their trouble.

Just my 2 cents.

Yes, that one aspect works, and I am grateful.

However, there are links integral to the site framework (as detailed in previous posts here), as well as those distributed through the site's email notifications, that do not have the proper prefix-- clicking on any of these links logs one out, and one then has to (re)read instructions on how to end the log-out loop.

Its not a work around, its a fix to enable you to access the server. The site apparently is now on a secure server, so you need to use the Https prefix to log in or you'll be kicked off. All you need to do is fix the url in your bookmarks. Its not a difficult thing to do.

I go to many knife sites with my iPhone and I have never had to change anything to continue to be logged into their sites. I hit the bookmark I'm still logged in so why here? Links don't work navigation of the site is clunky and a pita.

Same thing happened to a very small site I know of recently. It would not log in on www. , the site was shut down a day or so and now it only logs in on https. The owner said he fixed it.

Why? Because the address has changed. Its pretty simple......

https:// is in all urls for the various sub forums I visit and it don't do diddly friggin squat.
I still get logged out when changing threads, pages in threads, sub forums and liking posts.
XF:poop: Vb:thumbsup:

I hope this headache was worth the switch Spark.$$$!
