Why is the ZT Zero Tolerance 777 or 0777 so popular?

It looks like most of their other stuff.
Can anyone offer an opinion on what the features are on this knife that makes it such a popular choice?

Yes - limited run thats it. If it were a regular production folder, it would have difficulties to sell at $240.

I'll be honest but I'd never pay the money they are getting for them right now. You can get an A2A6 for 850.00 that is only slightly heavier and the action on it will blow away any ZT. I bought a 0770 and hate assisted knives so I de-assisted it but the action was disappointing. Once you have knives with IKBS it's hard to go back to anything else. YMMV.

IKBS knives have great action.

I hate IKBS, though. I doubt I'll buy another knife with IKBS.

This thread needs some pics, anyone care to share? I always wanted one but not paying those prices.

It's not just about the action, but all the technology and techniques that were used to make the knife.

I hear what you're saying "literally" but really with a good light, work area and some patience not that bad at all. I take apart my IKBS knives about every 3-4 months and it takes about 20 minutes to disassemble, clean, lube and reassemble. I use a cookie sheet when I take them apart and so far haven't lost any bearings. IMG_7426.jpg

They're a pain in the balls to disassemble/reassemble.

Sure, that's true. I have many IKBS knives and I disassemble them when necessary, and have done so many times.

But compared to a knife with captive bearings, it's a whole lot more work. Captive bearing knives operated fine, so IKBS = unnecessary annoyance, IMO.

I will say that some of the absolutely finest action I've ever encountered, for those "falls shut" fetishists, is on IKBS knives.

I agree with you on all points. I'll take the additional work for the "falls shut fetish". :D I actually like breaking them down and I really have a greater appreciation for the craftsmanship it took to make them. Most of my IKBS knives are made in South Africa.

I have a Natrix cf, Natrix XL cf, 0770CF, 0770GRYBW, Bareknuckle, and when I get my replacement a blackout Bareknuckle 20cv. If zt still offered a 777 I would have one, I think the ergonomics are great, blade shape is useful, and it's just a cool looking knife. Maybe they will do a reissue at some point, but I doubt it.
