I knows it sort of off subject, but I have noticed a few people on here with tattoos. Anyone have any outdoors related ones?

Not really, but does count if I put a Nessie in the shot?

No tattoos yet.

My wife got her first a couple years ago and has been bugging me to get one. I've already got it picked out. I just need the funds and the gumption to get it.

I'd like to get an 870 in the same font that its stamped on the receiver on the back of my left arm (I'm a lefty), just above the elbow so when I shoot trap in a t-shirt/short sleeves its visible to all :) .

Kinda redneck but the 870 was my first shotgun and I just love 'em.

Maybe for my 40th birthday. What do you think?

Chris

All mine are related to martial arts or memorium to family that have passed

I have been thinking lately of using wildlife photography as an excuse for tattoos and vice versa. My idea works like this: any tattoos I get I must first obtain in photo form (still looking for a good artist in the area of translating photo to flesh). And since tattoos of squirrels and pidgeons don't really float my boat, I must leave the city and venture out into the wilderness (oh darn guess I gotta go on another hike a' la pit dog) and snap some pics. Uh oh, nothing tattoo worthy? I suppose I have to go out again. Repeat as nescessary until really good animal pic is secured. Sort of like hunting, but not. And when someone says "Hey cluckey, nice tattoo" I can say "Thanks, here's the photo its based on, I hiked for four days to get it."

Its just an idea I've been kicking around, but it sounds good in theory.

And no, the zoo does not count. ;)

Cheers,
Cluckey

I don't have any tatoos but a compass rose would be my first if I had to get a wilderness related one. Either that or the North Star. Either way, they both symbolize direction and the possibility of a journey. I live my life by following my goals and you could say they represent having a direction towards them or down the right path.

i got the tom brown tracker tatted to my arm a few years ago, actually before i even owned one.

wow, you and I think alike. I just finished looking through my old pictures to see if one could be converted into a possible tattoo.

I have an native american indian one and a rattlesnake one on my chest. kinda outdoorsy I guess !!!
Oh yeah and a sword and axe one which I guess is relevant to this forum !!!!

Andrew, did you find anything? I've always thought that any tattoo I get will be something I create be it a photo or a drawing, and in this case I have a story and piece of art to go with the tattoo. That and it just seems cool to be a living vacation photo album. ;)

Rupestris, email sent.

Cheers all,

Both my arms are covered. Left sleeve is Asian influenced aquatic, right is dragons tiger, waterfall, banzai tree, all have meanings! Almost 30 years in martial arts gave me the Asian influence. My Dad's Navy eagle gave me the original desire...lemme see if I can dig up some pics...

that idea with the pics sounds very good indeed, if it'll work, i dunno

been wanting to get a tat fer a while but just cant decide what

usually when ppl start talking tats i show em the lil 1cm tryout thing i once did with chinese ink and a needle when i was bored

I am planning on getting a maple leaf tatooed on me somewhere, someday, Sort of a wilderness tatoo, but cheating a bit.
I have thought about a real wilderness tatoo as well, but have no clue what it would be, maybe some haida art?

I have one of a Cherokee hunter on my right forearm;
A bull skull with crossed arrow and spear on my left bicep;
A tribal Cherokee totem on my right breast;
CHEROKEE PRIDE on my stomach.
(Can you guess what tribe my family is?)

I have many others, but I guess that's all that could possible qualify as outdoor-related.

Well I wanted a very simple one for my first, so that I can have it just one color. Its kind of hard to make a photograph very simple, so I think what I might do is I found an almost clipart like picture of a mountain with some trees. I am going to try and adapt that style into my photograph. So use the outline of some mountains I took a picture of. Its going to be difficult as I am only so good at drawing.

I guess that my wifes tattoo could be considered kinda wilderness related.

I drew it for her so I'm kinda flattered that she liked it enough to wear it forever. The pic was taken a few hours after getting it so its still a bit red in the pic.

EDIT: she loves Dragonfly's. She even carries a Spyderco Dragonfly every day.

I got a skull that is on fire with a sword stuck through it and a snake coming out of the mouth.

Just kidding.

Mine is a Chinese dragon on my back. It's wrapped around a mountain and surrounded by clouds.
