Hi,

Any reviews, comments, etc. on Wilson Tactical knives ?

I only saw a couple and not very informative.

They look good on paper ... errr .. I mean screen :) ...

Cheers.

Most opinion's that I have gathered would be that the older Combat elite knives from the time of Darrel Ralph were considered better. The framelocks are still made rock solid.. But the price seems a little high to me.
I think I have a link with a short review..

I had a DDR/Wilson RRF collaboration flipper folder until recently (Traded it). Very nice knife & great F&F, but I will admit the one I had was a run of 25, indivisually #ered. I don't know about the Combat Elite line as I've never had one.

I've had the one mentioned & a "Mid-Tech" DDR Maxx Q1A, which was a great knife, too.

Both of the ones I had were manual flippers & worked/locked-up great. They were relatively light for their size & had very good blade length to handle length ratio. I believe the RRF was about 4 1/8" closed with a just over 3.25" S30V drop-point blade.

While the RRF was set-up for tip-up or down carry, the low-riding clip worked best in tip-down set-up, as quite a bit of the handle showed in tip-up carry.

As for the price, yes, they're up there, but like anything else, you pay for quality. I've heard/read that the limited run collaboration models were hand-fitted/sharpened, FWIW.

My local knife shop carries this line.
They appear to be extremely high quality.

Wilsons business started with customized 1911 pistols and accessories, so they should have the know-how and machinery to produce relatively simple items like knives. The custom 1911’s are widely considered to be some of the best in the industry.

The knife examples I have seen have been very impressive. They are made in the USA and are pretty expensive. The quality is definitely there though.

Wilson Tactical is not the same company as Wilson Combat. They are related, as I believe Bill Wilson's son runs Wilson Tactical, but they are completely separate.

Wilson Tactical is a division of Wilson Combat.

Ryan Wilson is the son of Bill Wilson. He worked at the gunshop for 20+ years.
Bill started the gun company, Ryan started the offshoot knife division a few years ago.

I didn't mean to infer that they produce firearms and knives side be side in the same factory, only that the same QC, knowledge, and dedication pervades both.

I had a Combat Elite, tactical elite level 2 tanto folder (gave it to my brother in the army)
Rock solid knife, thick blade, very strong, very well made.
You could stake your life on one.

I EDC an older Combat Elite RRF. Its a great little framelock, but the price they want for the new ones is ridiculous. They used to be a good value.
