Work Sharp PRO Precision adjust with Hapstone clamps

Hey 777 Edge 777 Edge , how are these coming?🤔 Getting a little tired of inconsistency using the original clamp🙁

Gritomatic is busy testing them right now, so I'm hoping they will release them soon. After my final design, I tested it thoroughly and it makes a huge difference in proper clamping resulting in a much higher end result of accuracy and quality of sharpening.

Here are some of the first assembly and testing pics Gritomatic sent me.

How do these do holding a full flat grind on something like a Spyderco PM2? I have the older smaller Work Sharp Precision Adjust that I bought specifically for the clamp hoping it will hold those flat angles. Is the idea with these to hold the choil and the other end just keeps from flexing or bowing?

They do very well.

The best way to clamp a typical Spyderco full flat grind, is by using two clamps. One clamp on the ricasso (flat parallel just in front of the handle) and the other clamp about an inch back from the tip. Your ricasso clamp will stop any rotational forces (knife moving up and down inside the clamp while sharpening) and your tip clamp will stop the flex.

With this method, you can clamp most blades perfectly secure.

Attempting to use only one single clamp that can work on every knife grind is a near impossible. In most cases, your best option is to use two separate clamps.

I've tested mine on many Spyderco grinds (among many other knives), and find this the most secure method of clamping for most fixed angle knife sharpening systems.

The clamps used in the above pics are Hapstone angled clamps. You can position them wherever you need on the clamp bar, and can even swivel one or both 180 degrees to give countless clamping positions. The Hapstone clamp bar attaches to the adapter that I designed for the Pro Precision adjust. Any Hapstone clamps can then be secured to the Hapstone clamp bar and used in your Pro Precision adjust.

Just a note though, it is important to also use the support block that I've designed (see first pic in this thread) as support below the clamp bar. Due to how the Pro precision adjust is designed, it's best to use my support block in combination with my adapter for more accurate sharpening.

Here is link with a video excerpt on to how to use these and similar clamps on FFG like your PM2.

So, for a new WSPPA and Gritomatic upgrade clamp, you’re out ~$345, would you be better off springing for a Hapstone R series or TS Prof Pioneer or Kadet?

If you haven't purchased a sharpening system yet, then for sure something like a TSProf Pioneer, Hapstone RS or Kazak M10 would be a better choice. This is more for someone who already has a WSPPA and would like to significantly improve it with a major upgrade.
