Does this template look like it will leave enough room for stitching?

The template should be at least 3/8" oversize on all sides. Usually do mine just a little larger than 3/8". After I glue everything up I sand the edges on a belt grinder and end up pretty close to 3/8". Hope that helps.

If these were my very last pieces of leather, I'd give it a try. It is VERY tight, but work careful, and it could work.
But if I had a choice I would double the oversize..

Nice pattern!
:D

Like nivejunky I leave 3/8" for the welt on smaller knives like your Dumster Mutt, up to 7/16ths for big choppers. Some even get 1/2". I've not done any bigger, its simply a waste of expensive leather.

I also leave 3/8" for stitching. I leave a little more on my larger sheaths because I usually have a second row of stitching.
