Hi all, I'd like some help.

I've recently come into possession of a word war 1 bayonet with a sharpening sheath. I'd like some help on how to clean the knife so that I don't damage it or ruin it in any way. Any help is good help I'm new to this and the knife is a pass down from a grandparent.

That is a very collectible item and insane as it sounds, you do damn near anything to clean it up or sharpen it, it loses value.

3 and 1 oil to prevent rusting.

Mineral oil and a rag to start with. Maybe some Qtips to get in the corners. 0000 steel wool for stubborn rust and then more oil and rag.--KV
