Would this be legal in Canada?

Lately I've been looking into multi tools, and I stumbled upon this: https://www.amazon.ca/Multitool-AQV...3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=multi+tools ... Since you can remove the blades (or anything that is classified as a weapon)... if i did, would it be legal to carry around my town or school? (Only to be used as a tool) Since I'm from Canada, I know the laws are very strict, I'm only interested in having it as a tool. If it is legal, would there be laws about concealing it?

Not sure, but I do know I've seen this same design under multiple brand names and they always seem to be of very inferior quality to Leatherman.

You should read up on Canadian knife laws.

Or maybe ask in the knife laws subforum here: https://www.bladeforums.com/forums/knife-laws.735/

Not a lawyer, but my understanding is that Canadian laws aren’t strict for knives carried as tools. There are strict limits on knives carried as weapons, and a list of specific knives that are outright prohibited, like autos and balisongs. But normal knives carried and used as tools are generally fine.

The tricky bit is that the same knife can be a tool or a weapon, depending upon who is carrying it, for what, and how they use it.

Schools are their own rule sets I have no idea what grade or whatever so that’s something you’d have to look up. Canadian laws are also easy to look up but basically any knife/multitool is legal to carry if you have a tool excuse, but if you are carrying legally and get into a fight and are arrested it will count as carrying a concealed weapon so be careful of that.

When all is said and done, what counts as legal or illegal is the opinion of the police officer involved with your encounter. Sometimes you win, sometimes it might be hard for you. Good luck with reading the law, because most of them don't.

If you remove the knife blade it will be fine to carry on your person. Even a school likely shouldn’t have a problem with it.

If some authority figure does see it on you tell them what you told us that you carry it as a tool and you even removed the blade.

There is no law in Canada against carrying a multitool even one with a knife on it like a swiss army knife in your pocket, unless you are carrying it with the INTENT to use it as a weapon.

Intent is everything. So if an officer does ask you about it don’t give him any reason to think you’re carrying it to hit someone over the head with.

With the knife removed I see no reason why a school should take issue with it. If they ask what it is tell them you use it to fix the wheel on your bike that keeps coming loose.
