Wounded Warrior Project

I'm a vet and just to let you know there are other fund raising charities that don't spend money in lavish way and give so much more of the donation to vets. Just putting it out there they lead to make you belive a lot more go to the wounded vets. I'm not saying that even a small donation dosent help but they make you think one thing and another happens here a example with a lot more out there http://www.cbsnews.com/news/wounded-warrior-project-accused-of-wasting-donation-money/. Agian I'm a vet and was wounded in Iraq I do donate a lot of money towards veterans causes just please do your research so people don't get rich on others selfless sacrifices.

gonebad395, I did read about this WWP taking money but I would think it be straighten out, I'm no vet but family members were. So this cause is not a great idea? I do support vets of all wars. Gary

I'm not saying it's not a cause I'm saying other groups give so much more of the donations to the vets that these people semi represent. Again no donation is to small but they don't out right let donors know how much they keep from the vets. That being said there is always overhead but theirs is high and spent lavishly which isn't needed if you are truly supporting the vet that was wounded doing a job others wouldn't.

What happens here and with every war are people that see a nich in my opinion wwp found this the current war so a fund was made. Not saying their family wasn't wounded but at the height of the war people of America sought to help and thought this was a great cause. While other groups who do so much more where forgotten years after Vietnam was forgotten it's a cycle

I understand what your saying, I don't like to donate as where the money is going. It's a money hungry world, sometimes( I) me can't trust where the monies going to. But I do & will support those whose served & defend this country. Don't want to go off topic. But I believe the Vets deserve the best. Gary

Well, I for one would boycott any Wounded Warrior stuff, either merchandise or activities. The scandals that have vomeout resulting in the firing of the head guy have been a shameful greedy grabbing of funds to support a lavish party lifestyle. It's all about the money.

Being a 50% disabled vet from a more unpopular war decades ago, I can tell you what a vet needs. Do you really want to help a vet? Give him a job and let him get on with his life. Buy him a box of groceries to feed his family for a while, while they get back on their feet. When I got out of Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C. I was exhausted both mentally and physically from the effort of learning to walk again on my right foot, and I only wanted to get on with life. I had a wife with one child and another on the way. All I wanted most in the world was a job. To earn money to support my family. The VA was there for me with schooling for a new career.

This new found patriotism is a nice front for the greedy money grabbers that will capitalize off the good will from naive people who think they are helping the poor vet by buying over priced items from WW projects. If people really want to help, go to a grass roots movement and canvas your neighborhood business's about hiring a vet home from the sandbox. If you know a vet, go by the local food store and bring them a box of food. That's better than any photo op of a few hour afternoon fishing trip for the vets, with lots of pics taken so they can say, "Look, we took some vets fishing for an afternoon, but we need your further donation so we can have a big party for the WW personal. "

Sorry, I'm a cynic on this subject, as I know many vets who didn't get help from WW, but they did show up to pass out ball caps and pose for pics. :thumbdn:

gonebad395, no issue on changing the thread , & jackknife also, interesting info. I would like donate to the right organization for the vets. Gary

The Wounded Warrior Project has been a scam for quite some time now. Look into the percentage amount of donations that actually go to DIRECT programs for our wounded. It's appalling. Because of that, they've never gotten a dime of mine. Never will regardless of any changes in the future. Last month their CEO and COO were tossed out for valid reasons --- squandering the money trustingly donated for wounded vets. We probably haven't heard the last of that.

The WWP is good at raising money but not so good at stewardship/appropriate spending of those donations.

I understood that WWP is going through restructuring, and the leadership was kicked out for misuse of fund and might possibly face charges. I'll give them a chance to straighten itself out. It wasn't always so wasteful, I"m confident with the heaviet oversite that it will come out as one of the better charities.

Hope the WWP will be straighten out & those who use the money charged with fraud, I have a hard time donating to several charities, It's sad when people take money for their own use. GC
