wrought iron chains ?

Seems like forge welding a chain link is less demanding than a Demascus blade. There must be some signs of a weld that isn't clean or some irragurlarity in the size of the links. I get out my 5 power magnifier and look for that stuff. I'm old. ;) Good antique maliable iron does not develope a rust scale like 1020 carbon steel.... it just turns brown like an old gun barrel. <br><br> I'd love to know what you are working on if it isn't top secret. :D Have fun, jack
 
Chele, you can tell just by the wear marks on it. They are stringy. I'll take a pic and post it tomorrow.
