This is my spin-off of the Dave Beck WSK made popular by the movie The Hunted.

I really liked the idea of the knife, and hoped to add a few of my own humble "upgrades".

Notably:
  • creating more of a "chopping" profile
  • short sawback, moved away from the tip (to allow for better skinning/draw-knife cutting)
  • "raised" false edge - to clear sawback
  • "bell" at the end of the contoured handle for comfort and control
  • rear lanyard thong
  • finger hole in the blade for safety/control while draw-knife cutting
  • finger ring instead of drop-guard for security/control
But most importantly, the tang has been drilled and the blade ground in a way to create a well balanced knife and not just another sharpened prybar. ;)

Overall length is around 14" and the weight around 21 oz.

Pricing for now on this model (as shown) will be at $350.

Lowest price option would be micarta, no liners, 2 corby pins, 2 lanyards = $320

Kydex is $55 and a leather pin-lock sheath will be available from Kenny Rowe for $120 (highly recommended!)

Thanks for looking!

pin lock sheath?

that looks keen :)

glad i got mine... :)

0.900" more or less on the finger ring....a little over 0.750" on the blade hole (just for a fingertip - while draw-kniving)

DANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So sad to have to sell mine. So sad. That KMG perks me up though.

no kiddin! :D  :p

I've always enjoyed working on my KMG...and it's still my favorite grinder...but having spent some time on the Dozier grinder here at Tom's shop....man, I am spoiled!!! (they're ~$3500 new)

In all fairness, though...I've got about $2700 invested in my KMG right now (including all accessories/toolery).

Not really that big a leap to the Dozier...and a heckuva workhorse.

But, like you Andy, I wanted the KMG to get into grinding at a cheaper price...and it's definitely worth it.

Sell a few knives and get some accessories...build it up over time.

My next accessory is going to be a toolbar stand.
