The handles are molded plastic and have broken in three places. I’m wondering where I could have them rehandled? Any recommendations?

You could call Wustof themselves and see if they'll do it.

Phone number is on that page. They might even cover it under warranty.

There are plenty of knifemakers and craftsmen here on Bladeforums who could re-handle it with something better than the original material if you want.

Thanks! I called their toll free number and they said that the plastic handles are under warranty and they'll just send a new knife when I send the old one in. I'll see if my wife has any sentimental attachment to this particular blade, but if not: out with the old and in with the new, I guess.

I am guessing the new Wusthofs are about as good as the older ones. That's not always the case, though. How long have you had that old one?

So probably not old enough to have been made back in the mythical good old days. They still use the same steel.

I have the same problem with my Wusthof utility knife. And yes, it is my favorite slicer.

Well, my wife said she has no special attachment to the knife, so I'm going to try filling out the paperwork and sending it out tomorrow. We'll see what Wusthof says when they get it back, or what they send in return, as it may be.
