I was given an old WW2 Solingen German army knife and was wondering if anyone could give me any information at all. It has what appears to be an eagles talon surrounding a ball with some ornate designs on the handle.

There are tons, and tons (literally) of fake WW II German "Army Knives".

I have a small interest in many of the originals, and would love to see some Picts. myself.

something like this?

I think you're talking about a knife that was popular in the '50's and was sold on the back of comic books. The handle was either Zinc die cast or Aluminum die cast. Every kid on my block had one.View attachment 755353

.

The Korium Black Forest hunting knife, a staple from men's magazines from the 50's - 70's. Thoresens seemed to be the big source for them for a while. Then they might of had a connection to PIC (Precise International Co), another NY sporting goods importer (they were also an early importer of Gamo air guns and Wenger knives). PIC seems to have taken over the designs and marketing of the brand after Thorsens faded out.

The early ones were German contracted, then later they moved to Japan as a cost cutting measure. Schlieper (Eye Brand) was one noted subcontractor involved in the early ones.

They're usually called "Ball and Claw" knives/daggers by collectors now.
