Hello,

I just purchased this for my friend and I want to present some relevant info when I give it to him. Does anyone know the history of this blade? On the sheath it says 103 - J.B.Brooks & Co Ltd 1944. Who would have used it and where? I know it says jungle warfare but I'd like to be spesific.

J.B.Brooks & Co is the maker of the sheath. Brooks has been making leather goods since the 19th century.
As to who would have used it, that's anyone's guess. The British army issued these during WW2, as did the Australians, but if it were military issue the blade should have at least the British Broad Arrow marking on it.

Martindale is currently made in Taiwan I believe. They sell them in the hardware store where I live. The price of a new one is $12.99 . They appear to be made in the United Kingdom but if you research it you will find that they are now made in Taiwan. Big letdown.

New ones maybe but not during WW2 as the 1944 date stamping would indicate.....They were made in Birmingham I think....

Yes I think you are correct. This one says registered in England? This one's very Rusty and very old. however it has chopped down more trees than Paul Bunyan16973103156787867630406489645404.jpg

Sorry for the double post but it's made in Thailand not Taiwan my mistake,, the new ones not the old ones. You asked where it could have been used? Due to the location of Australia I would have to say it could have been used in the Philippines it could have been used off their Coast in New Guinea. I would say it was probably used in the Pacific theater. I have no facts to base this claim. If my father was still alive he would be able to tell me because he was a world war II veteran. There's not many world war II veterans left. That's unfortunate because one of them guys would be able to tell you more.
Either way that's a dandy of a blade. Is there any way you could put a picture of it? I'd like to see it.
