I consider myself a connisseur of Smoky Mountain Knifeworks, so I am imminently qualified to answer your question.

But first...

I have read several of your posts, and been tempted to comment before, but didn't want to offend you. Since I am now answering your question, you will have to take the good with the bad

. Your posts sometimes read like one long, fast sentence, with scattered thoughts and no logical divisions. Was that too harsh? I know you're only 15 and I don't want to discourage you, but it would be much easier for us to read and answer your posts if you structure your thoughts in an orderly fashion, and use proper puctuation (capital letters to start a sentence, periods, etc.) to clarify your posts. Otherwise, glad to have you!

That said...

I have been ordering from SMKW for years, first the Frost junk, and now the quality stuff at steep discounts. Their service is great, shipping schedule is on the site but it's hard to find. It's like $5.99 for an order up to $50 and a sliding scale above that.

My advice: be very careful with the 2.99 and 4.99 type stuff. You mostly get what you pay for. Right now, they have some CRKT stuff on deep discount, which is much, much better than the Chinese POS's. Do a search on "columbia". I have recently picked up a Commander Red Dog ($9.99) and a Mirage ($9.99). They are both worth easily 2-3X what I paid. Just last week I got 3 Buck Quest's, for $5.99 each. They are on special too. ABS Plastic handle, no clip, but it's a real Buck (not a knockoff POS), and miles better than a Chinese $2.99 piece. (I am tempted to review it in the Test forum for giggles.)

One caveat: I have only used the website for browsing, not ordering. I always call and order with a credit card.

let me rephrase all that. Ok I'm almost always buzzed on coffe or caffiene. So here go's. I just found this great site www.eknifworks.com. trilan_odon,
Smoky Mountain is topnotch as far as service and integrity, and their return policy is generous. Heed RH's advice regarding the lower priced imported stuff, but they do indeed have some good quality name brand items at a steep discount now and again. As with RH, I have ordered only by phone, which I too recommend. That way you'll know right off if something is backordered or no longer available. Also, once you order from them you'll be on their catalog list and have an opportunity to see some stuff that doesn't get on their website. Continue to collect you thoughts and write well, and good luck with Smoky Mountain. (Let us know how your dealings with them turn out.)

I love Smokey Mountain.Keep your eye open and you'll find great prices on close outs.I lost count on how many of those Mirages I bought for guys at work,$9.99,for a CRKT,how you going to beat that?

Hey all,

Thanks for the great words. We love the encouragement and it has become an everyday task to check blade forums for mention of SMKW.

Our eCommerce department loves to read the topics on Blade Forums and a day dosen't go that someone in our department dosen't yell: "Hey look what they are saying on Blade Forums." Shortly there after, there is a mad dash to the person who made the discovery.

RH and trilan_odon,

I wanted to thank you both for drawing our attention to something that we had over looked. We are going to put the shipping and handling on the FAQ page in the Customer Service section so that it is easy to find. When you deal with those figures all the time it is easy to forget that everybody dosen't have them memorized.

Everybody have a great day, I love this website!

Just yesterday, realized that would only be fair to give SMKW a good rating on the G, B, n U forum. I've ordered 3 times from them, online using my CC. All 3 orders have made it here very promptly, well-packed, and exactly as ordered. Can't do it any better in my book.

While we're all patting one another on the back...

jcadden, kudos to you for making the eknifeowrks.com site a real contender. For years the SMKW web site was a black hole that made the company look bad. Congrats for getting it up & running and looking good.

May I suggest you take a look at your search algorithms. For example, if I search for 'mirage', I get no results. If I search for 'columbia', I get all CRKT products, the Mirage among them. If I search on 'river', I get all CRKT products, as well as a bunch of S&W screwdRIVER sets. Kinda wierd how some product names come up and others don't.

Anyway, great site, I just wish the USPS wouldn't take so long to deliver mt catalogs - I missed the great deals on the Apaches waiting for my catalog to arrive!

RH,

We are probably going to re-do the way that w handle search completely. We have noticed the odd way that the search 'thing' works and it is a problem for our customers.

I may have a solution for you on low quatity and closeout stuff. We are hoping to have a 'What's New' section that will pull up all the items in the latest catalog. That way if you go to the website when the catalog hits you will have a heads-up on the good deals.

Thanks for the kind words. If you have any other suggestions give me a yell.
