xc75 blade steel?

Hi all, has anybody got any experience with xc75 as blade steel on a pocketknife? I'm very tempted by a fontenille pataud laguiole in this steel but I don't know anyone that's used it or had any expereince with it.

Can anyone shed some light as to what its like as an edc steel?

i have a mercator k55k that also uses this steel (great user knife btw). i use it at work a lot for cutting carpet and that vinyl traction flooring stuff. It's carbon steel and corrodes easily but takes a razor edge and holds it pretty well. Tough, simple steel thats easy to sharpen.

As already told, XC75 is used for the K55K Mercator knife. I use these knives already for a long time as working knives. The steel gets a razorsharp edge and holds it pretty long. I never made any bad experiences with this one. Works as well as a good heattreated 1095. The patina takes it somehow in yellow color, though this depends on the things you cut.

With the XC75 carbon steel you can´t go wrong, as long as HT is ok.

Similar to 1075 carbon steel. Reasonably common in European carbon steel knives.

There are no carbides in it, not even the iron carbides found in 1095. How well it performs will depend on the individual manufacturer and to what hardness he tempers the blade.
