Still trying to decide what knives I want for Christmas, and keep looking at the various yellow Case knives, and had a couple questions. Are they plastic? If so, how do you traditional folder people feel about that? Is it a no no? I like em, and was wondering what you all think.

Yellow handled Case knives are held in very high esteem by most of the folks here..... If you like the knife..... go for it. Just for your information, Case uses two different steels... one is CV and the other is stainless...... make sure you get the one you prefer.

Jason

P.S. the yellow handles are synthetic... delrin I believe. Traditionally, many old pocket knives were made with man made materials such as celluloid.... so no worries there. If your wanting yellow bone handles....try Moore Maker or Great Eastern Cutlery.

I think the yellow handles have been around long enough to have some "history" behind them. As mentioned, they seem to have a large following.

Here is the Case knife I chose for this Christmas.

yellow handles are nice. i prefer bone or stag, but for work or hunting/fishing yellows are great. you might want to read the thread "yeller handles" a few posts down.

The yellow scales and slip joints just seem to go together.

Case does have two variations of yellow. The traditional yellow Delrin and a yellow jigged bone. IIRC the bone version was only offered on certain versions.
I think some of the Case Classics had it and some of the John Deere versions.
There may have been more, but thats all I can think of right now.

Everyone should own at least one yeller slip joint :D

Yella slip joints are right up there with dented perculator coffee pots, old cast iron fry pans, and well worn but maintained lever action 30-30's.

I like that description... Did I mention I have a weakness for old camp perculator coffee pots:D I lost track of how many I have

I trust those are traditional slip joint coffee pots and not the one hand titanium type...:D

Absolutely. They were made before I was born

Ya won't find any of that fancy, high tech stuff in my camp.

I've even got bags full of spare lids and baskets. I really do need help :D

Agree 100%. This year hopefully my 16 yo son will take his first buck with a Marlin 30-30 that was his Grandfathers. This rifle has taken 41 Pennsylvania bucks so far. Guys with 30-06s taking a 50 yard shot make me nervous.

Thanks for all the replies! Im really looking hard at either a Trapper or Stockmen, and definitely a Sodbuster. One of em will be yellow fo sho.
Sorry when I posted this I didnt realize there was another active yella thread.

Nice group there Rayban. I don't recall seeing many Case scout knives in yeller

I LOVE that yellow scout!!! CV steel? I'm in love. And don't worry, deermaster. Someone will probably come along shortly and move this thread into the other one.

No Voltron, it be SS, the Med Stockman, and the Trapper are the only ones in CV....but the large Stockman has a serrated main blade!!;)

I've been a yeller handle Case CV guy for a number of years now. I love them. I carry a sodbuster jr and a medium stockman.

I carry a yellow handled large Case trapper quite a bit.

It is a coon skinning dude. I had it in my overalls pocket last night walking the timber and following the hounds.

Friends, I have a run of the mill CASE Pen-knife in yellow. It's an overlooked knife in my view, the combination of 2 carbon blades that blacken really nicely is offset by the mellow yellow and the stainless backspring. Slim simple Old School elegance:thumbup:
