This thread is a shameless push to help get the BK1 back into production.
I just got my latest Becker - a Camillus NIB BK1 Brute.

Here it is, side by side with a BK2 for footprint comparison. I had seen pics of them, but never with something to readily show the size properly. This is one sweet knife.

I met with a buddy of mine for lunch today who, until today, had never even heard of Becker knives. All he has is a Buck 112, an old wore out machete on his ranch and a chain saw. He started asking about some brand of knife I am unfamiliar with, (Diamond something or other). I told him I had never heard of them, but he ought to check out the Becker line, that they were less expensive (he had quoted a price) and would probably hold up better as well. I told him about the BK1 I had in the car and that I'd show it to him when we were done eating.
Well, we went out to the car, I took it out of the box and handed it to him and asked him how the handle felt. The first words out of his mouth were "Shxx, I want one of these. What's it called again?"
I explained that Camillus was no longer in business and that Kabar was making the Becker knives now, but that the BK1 was not one of the ones being produced. (He has Cutco kitchen knives and really likes them. He was surprised to find out that Cutco and Kabar are owned by the same folks.)
His response was, "Well, they oughtta be making these. I love it. How much for it?"
Needless to say, he went back to work sans BK1. I steered him towards getting a BK2, BK9 and BK4 for his first Becker knife purchases for his ranch work and a BK16/17 for deer processing work. He has a 8K+ acre farm/ranch and leases the hunting out to 18-20 guys from Houston each year (at $2k apiece - he can afford a few Beckers
)
So today I got a great new piece of steel and turned a friend onto Beckers. Not a bad day in Wayne's World of Knives.
I know everyone uses the phrase for the 9, I think the 1 really ought to have it engraved on each one when Kabar starts making them again (I hope, I Hope.)
YOU CAN'T NOT HAVE A BK1 BRUTE.
