Glock 36, because H&K doesn't make a small 45 like it.
Favorite pistol of all time....H&K USP 45

+1 on the Ultra compact Sign 1911. I've got one in 9mm, it's a fantastic gun! Capable of shooting way better than I'm able. It's fairly concealable, and relatively lightweight.

On most of my 1911s, I have aftermarket parts to tweak them into what I want. Not so on the Sig Ultra Compact. I would not change anything, it is perfect as manufactured.

Here is something that I found very interesting. I have a Rock Island compact the same size as the Sig, but with a steel frame. Felt recoil is actually greater in the RIA than in the SIG, even though it's a good bit heavier. I have not been able to figure out what exactly it is that causes this. The Sig never tires me out shooting it, I can shoot hundreds of rounds through it at a time with no fatigue. And it is a great naturally pointing pistol. On the plate racks, it almost aims itself going from plate to plate, which along with its incredible reliability, makes it a perfect carry gun.

Here it is in all it's sub compact glory (it's the sexiest pistol I own, LOL)

A buddy of mine swears by H&K but I shot one a long time ago (almost 20 years ago now) in .40 S&W and I hated it. Not sure if it was the gun or the round. I now have an FNX40 that is my bedside gun but it's soon to be replaced by my G17 MOS or a G21.

He says he likes the H&K because he has smaller hands and the grip panels (side and backstraps) allow him to create the perfect grip. I may pick one up since I have a lot more experience with firearms now as I was 20 and hadn't shot very much.

I have really come to appreciate striker fired pistols recently with my recent glock buying spree - G19, G17, and 3 P80 frames - but I had always preferred single/double actions with a decocker.

Man, I could talk Busses and guns all day!

I'm a 1911 Guy...don't deny it. I have a pair of late '70's Detonics Combat Masters. They are not Sexy Plastic lightweights, but they were ground breaking compacts of their day! I have replaced the Cone shaped barrel on one twice because I enjoy shooting it for the last 40 years.

I dont currently own any 1911s but a couple Ed Brown customs are on the list. In the real world, a G30 and compact .45 shield do the job. Thing is, Id have to sell a couple big Busses to get that Ed Brown, and with the glock and smith being nice options, why give up the infi. I cant imagine not being a 1911 guy though, that design simply must be revered by anyone that appreciates firearms.

I'm in the same boat - no 1911s yet but a couple on the list. Brendan snwbrdr202 snwbrdr202 is a 1911 freak and has pointed me in the direction of the Dan Wesson Specialist for a rail gun or the Guncrafter Industries No Name for an awesome classic! Guncrafter is like Busse in that they have a lifetime warranty that stays with the gun and they offer free annual tuneups which is super cool!

I plan to get a G21 first though as it's less expensive and holds more rounds.

When it comes to carry it has to be Glock (34 for me) but I am interested to know what your all time favourite pistol is? Which 1911 variant/model?:)

I love all 1911's but out of what I own, I have a soft spot for my colt 80 series enhanced. It was the first 1911 I purchased new with my own money. As for function my Ed Brown Executive Elite is my favorite all time 1911. I prefer it to my Wilson, my Les Baer and my Dan Wesson. All of which are awesome guns.

My favorite gun is the 1911, and I have several of those, but the favorite in that category is the Kimber Ultra RCP II -

However, your statement that it must be the one I carry - I carry a Ruger LCR most often, so I had to answer revolver-guy.

What caliber is your LCR chambered in? I don't currently own any revolvers but I'm thinking about buying a couple - 4" Smith or Ruger in .357 and either an LCR or a J Frame for carry.

My favorite pistol is the caseless .38 Colt 1911that my father has. It saw service in WW1 with my great grandfather he has kept it in pristine condition all these years. Its hard to find ammo for but it still shoots just fine after a hundred some years. As for what I carry, its a CZ-85 in a Azula gun holster.

I am surprised that the Beretta 92 has gotten no love. When the movie Lethal Weapon came out it shot the 92 into stratospheric popularity. I have owned a few and their clones.

I'm a trigger snob. Once you have shot a good trigger, it will, imo, ruin ya lol.
That's why I said a tuned Sig or 1911.
Whenever I get an outta the box Sig - unless it's a MasterShop or Sport model ( because those triggers are gtg outta the box- on most anyways ) I always send my Sigs to the Sig Armorer, Robert Burke. It's just night and day difference when he gets done with one. At least half the take up is gone and ALL the creep is gone. And, I've noticed with any new Sig, there is a metric ton of creep.( Striker fire excluded of course )
Plus, Robert will lighten the trigger pull too if ya want. To me, a great trigger does not have to be 3 pounds or less. What truly counts imo, is getting rid of the take up and ALL the creep.
So, any you Sig guys want an incredible trigger, then give Robert a call. Plus, and this is a big plus, Robert's trigger work will not void your Sig warranty.

Much love for the Beretta 92fs. It was my first pistol and still love them to this day. But do not carry or own one for the same reasons I don't carry my all time favorite Colt SAA in 5.5" 45lc. I keep with the times I guess.
I asked myself this question. "What would Billy the Kid carry today if he was around"
I think he'd carry a Glock....just my 2 pennies.

You've got an awesome collection of 1911s so I had to give a shout out. It just wouldn't have been a complete gun thread without a post or two from you with pics of those gorgeous 1911s!:cool:

I appreciate that brother! Let us know what you end up going with when you “pull the trigger!” I recently acquired a Steyr M9A1 and man, I’ve never had a polymer gun that feels this good in hand. Definitely worth a look, especially at the price point.

CZ's are great guns. I have always wanted an original 75, but settled instead for my EAA Witness.
Oh yes. Just a tad off the rails here, but I have a CZ Bren 805 10 or 11" barrel, and that thing is a machine!! The absolute softest recoil- and naturally quickest follow up shots I've ever shot.
I love me some CZ!
And, dont even get me started on their bolt rifles with the set trigger.......;)
