If we're being honest, we spend far more time carrying a knife around with us, than using it. At least, this has been my experience as a town boy. If your regular day includes hunting your food, or processing other people's hunted food, you may disagree.

Even if your preferred choice is a 5" Rappala in a belt sheath, some knives carry better than others.

I'd like to see pictures of the knives that spend more time with you, precisely because they lend themselves to portability.

In the spirit of inclusion, I would also like to see the knives that have fallen out of favor, not because of any problems with their cutting performance, but because they are unfriendly to your hands, pockets, or surroundings when you do try to take them along for your day.

I have 2.. a two layer Vic in RF cargo pocket just disappears until needed. CRK 21 with clip removed and carried in a slip so it doesn't rub against the wood handle of what ever fixed blade I have in the same pocket. IMG_3375.jpegP

I carry only clipless folders and in a pocket sheath. I have two made by Cedar Grove Leather in different sizes. The large is made with very thin leather that is robust enough to carry a Buck 110 upright in any pocket. It has lasted with no problems for several years now. I also use it for an Opinel N°10 and a SOG Paratool.

Pics upon request.

Thin and light are the key comfort ingredients for me. Buck 112 Slim Select, nail notch, and clip removed.

Strangely enough, the most comfortable pocket knives for me are the Spyderco all stainless steel models when wearing cargo shorts. I can carry the largest Police model right down to the smallest SS Dragonfly model. Although slightly heavier than their FRN counterparts, they are exceedingly thin and smooth and I don’t feel them at all.

When wearing jeans, the pockets are more restrictive so a Spyderco Dragonfly (usually a G10 version) is my choice there.

I usually carry a larger knife, but at the beach and around the house in pajama bottoms, I carry a Tuff Lite.

I’m not aware of a lighter/smaller folder that I’d prefer as a backup SD knife, and as a general utility and leather crafting knife it’s superb.

I liked mine so much I got a couple as gifts from the new owners of Cold Steel and they arrived sharp and well finished…

To me, 'comfort' has several variables. #1 is physical. #2 is psychological. There are others. #3 is sensory-how it feels and looks.

I carry a Hinderer XM-24 because of its physicality-the size and shape. I carry a Spartan Harsey Folder (Large) because of quiet subtlety and strength (Black PVD). Both feel great in hand.

#4 is sentimentality. My Buck 121 has 1-3 and 4 as was my first knife ever and I bought it with my own money when I was 10. 1978...

Most of my knives seem to carry fairly comfortably, and I don't put my hands in my pockets that much, so it'd be hard for me to nail down my most comfortable one. This is what I've got in there now, with no complaints. Everything's rounded off well and the flipper doesn't really peck at my hand or phone.

As for uncomfortable, that would probably be my old Cold Steel Spartan. I'm not sure why I ever thought I needed a knife that big. To prove the point, I have no idea where that knife now resides, so no pic.

I liked these so much that I had this Custom Fixed blade made. Using the Blade shape, and putting it on my belt. Freed up a pocket, and truly one handed deployment and Sheathing. Thanks to David Mary David Mary and G Gary W. GraleyScreenshot_20230314-153726.png
