Hello everyone, I was browsing through Blade HQ's online store where I found a section for "Beads" and saw a couple that I liked
Lion Armory - Mad Rooster & Schmuckatelli - Green Man

But I couldn't hold back so..
I ordered a Schmuckatelli Green man bead (four faces) on Roman Copper, Black & Undead lanyard colors

And I am hoping to get your opinion/comment on Lanyard bead's :)

I don't have much of an opinion on lanyard beads. Sure they're a nice personal touch, but in most situations they go unnoticed by everyone except the person wearing them. And because of that fact they strike me as prohibitively expensive.

My lanyard beads are brass and stainless steel hex nuts.

I rarely find any I like and when I do they are priced so high I just have to shake my head. I understand they aren't plastic Mardi Gras beads but, some of these things are priced liked they are made of gold.

I agree with some of the others here. I rarely see any I really like, when I do, I am in awe of the price. I seriously considered doing an investment cast gold bead because at least then, the price would make sense.

Opinions are like belly buttons (shrug)

I am working with a friend on a custom bead of a less precious alloy...I never asked the price on that one, so I may just be a big ole hipocrit when it is all over;) Honestly though, custom things made the way I specify them somehow seem different than a bead in a bag at a dealer...but to the guy that doesnt even notice it hanging off my lanyard, its all a huge waste of money :D

Luckily I didn't spend an obscene amount on this purchase, $9.00 for the bead + 10 for the lanyard :D
I contacted Mike to find out why their beads are cheaper, they're plated over pewter.

Beads and lanyards are an additional way to enjoy the hobby. Best thing about them is they are easily removed when a change is needed.

I like some of them - and on some knives a lanyard comes in handy.

I mostly have them on fixed blades, not my everyday folders though.

I did use the lanyard on the Sebenza I had, but it had no bead (just the standard CRK lanyard).

I have several beads though, some of them I can't resist.

best

I pretty much think of them as mostly bling and I'm not much for bling. Nothing wrong with it for those who favor it.

Never used lanyards. Maybe a Buddha head bead would be interesting. Those beads don't look bad.

I will never own a Starlingear or Steel Flame anything. That being said, a pewter/brass/copper/steel skull bead of some sort will weight your lanyard into hanging properly downward.

And since Mardi Gras was mentioned...

I like the idea - especially something copper with patina, or tarnished silver. I don't do skulls though, and that seems to be the thing, lol. So yeah, I don't have one, but I think they're kind of cool.

Here is my damascus steel lanyard bead with a lanyard made from green para cord that I got from bladehq. I got it on sale and picked up two of them for around $5 shipped for each. The other knife is just in their with my own handmade orange para cord lanyard

I just got finished addjng a lanyard hole to my favorite knife, the CRKT Hissatsu Folder. I hknrstly cannot see myself spending a lot on beads, but they're cool.

I don't use a lanyard. I prefer to have a wrist loop instead. I made two thus far from shoelaces - one was from a boot shoelace with reflective yellow and another one from black leather boot shoelaces.

Just received mine in the mail, looks amazing, If you want to get into beads without breaking the bank
look into Schmuckatelli -! :D:thumbup:

I find anything dangling on my knives a little in the way, not to mention the marks they will leave on certain areas of the knife when kept in the pocket. I don't usually lanyard my knives too, so you're not going to see any beads on them...

....... but maybe that's just my outlook on the world.
I have cut 'beads' out of scrap brass and found occasional treasures in hardware stores.
Once picked up an odd little bracelet for a buck in a local thrift shop that yielded half a dozen unusual beads.
Lots more fun to get them that way. But like I said, that's my world view.

I don't put lanyards on my knives and don't really get the bead thing. I'm not into fancy knives or bling, so that may be why.

That being said, I can really appreciate the work that goes into the beads themselves and some of them are very cool. They just aren't my thing.
