In a nutshell - nice knife, but the cost is too much for what you get. Your thoughts..? :D

Actually, it's a very nice CA-legal auto. I have others like the ProTech Runt and Sprint series that are $20-$30 more.

Kershaw Launch 4 has a just under 2" blade and just under 2 ounces. Great watch pocket knife.

Quality materials and build. Aluminum handle, CPM-154 and made in the USA.

Here's a related thread: CA legal Kershaw Launch 4.

I really like the looks of it and am a big fan of knives this size. Dragonfly, runt, sprint etc. I'm just waiting for colored variants. Vowed not to buy any more black knives.

Also fine with the price. Made in USA auto with a good steel.

Hopefully, if the black Launch 4 sells well we may see different color handles and stonewashed blades just like Launch 1-3 have now.

I thought it was a nice gesture for them to make a "CA legal" version of their new autos. Many people had been complaining that the nicest Kershaws of the year were not available to auto-illegal states. I still wish they would make non-auto versions of those knives. They are nice looking Kershaws with CPM-154 that should be available to everyone who wants one.

I love my Launch 4. Paid $69.95..cheapest online I found.
Fast, hard fire, CPM154 blade, made in USA.
Good quality.
I have several CA legal autos including Pro-Techs which I love, and this one is right up there in quality (again my opinion).

How's the button lock? My only complaint, excused by the price, is that the button on my launches tends to be sticky/gritty when compared to my Protechs.

Kershaw Launch 4 CA Legal autos (just under 2" blade length) in more colors!

New here, howdy all.

Anyone else having issues with their Kershaw Launch 4 like me?

Here are my thoughts....

Not for carrying in a left pocket (front or rear) unless you want to do funky arm yoga to draw the knife without facing the unopened blade towards your palm. Not a serious issue except for the fact that the "plunge lock" kinda sucks (on mine at least =]). See below.

Do not like the feel of the button. I have sold dozens of flimsy button activated knives at a previous job, all of which were built more poorly, but also all had a better button feel than this.

As I depress the button down, the blade continuously creeps forward (4ish mm) until it snaps open. If I press it halfway and then let go the blade creeps forward (2-3mm) and the button stays partially depressed . I can actuate the knife using the very epicenter of my thumbprint on my largish hands with not much effort. I see this as neither safe nor does it inspire enough confidence for me to actually carry around in my pocket, which kills the point of buying it.

All other aspects of fit and finish are perfectly fine. The blade is dead centered and does not wiggle when open, the anodizing is beautiful, the grind is nice, the edge is quite sharp and I dig the oversized pocket clip (on the 4 and 6 only, all other Launches have what seems to be the same (shitty, IMO) pocket clip as the Skyline.) An actual stamped logo instead of the laser etched BS would certainly be nice on a blade that MSRPs for $120.

Got this on sale for $70 online and I will still be returning it. Not saying this is how all Launch knives are, I am only offering my personal experience with this particular knife.

Of the last 4 Kershaws I have purchased, only one has not left me disappointed, the Link in a regular drop point blade. Worth every penny, even at full retail price ($60).
