YouTube video reviews?

Just curious as to why there are so few videos of CPK? My only theory is that owners and users are to busy enjoying their blades?

either enjoying them or keeping them in a safe.

Totally guilty here of safeguarding mine till the right time comes by way of retirement away from the Cali suburbs and in somewhere much more private and naturesque.

Now to my opinion:

Nathan / Jo had never embarked on the marketing strategy of giving away freebies to those YouTube influencers whose channels are being followed / watched by thousands upon thousands of knife / outdoor enthusiasts. I am not insinuating that all reviewed products on those channels get preferential treatment from the reviewers on a pay-to-play basis as I think that there are many, many more honest reviews than not; but CPK probably does not want the kind of demand spike which they can not currently meet.

Both Nathan and Lorien have videos posted on YouTube and while Nathan's are (anti) destruction demonstratives, Lorien's are much more geared toward practicality and pragmatism aspect of the CPK patterns. Someone unrelated to CPK in here (on the edge?) had a destruction series on a test FK and there's a thread on that saga in the subforum in addition to other threads buried in the sub with pictorials and descriptive of the LC usage if you wish to search for them.

I've never given any knives to a YouTube reviewer. I probably should.

THAT is how we see all these great knife reviews on YouTube. Good old fashioned payola! ;)

Although I am sure that everyone here who has been number 21 for a 20 knife Friday sale two seconds after you unlock it would prefer that you didn't.

BTW, I would be MORE than happy to do a YouTube review of a 10" Integral Dagger. Let me know if you need my mailing address. :D

I don't think any knives need to be given to YouTube's for review. The flooding CPK has already is awesome. I mean knives last for sale on the exchange for minutes if you're lucky. Nathan sells like 20 plus knives in under 3 minutes lol.

Lorien has some good videos up on YouTube using the knives they just don't ever get embedded in the threads for some reason.

I think, Nathan, that you usually feel no problem not knowing what the outcome of the review would be, IF you had a very good background on the reviewer and knew for a fact he was 1) a true expert on knives, 2) understood the machining and machinery aspect, 3) and you had absolute trust that he or she was acting in a totally objective manner without hidden agenda.

Otherwise, I would hate to hand my own personal reputation and fate to anything but a good friend. JMHO. I would never trust social media to that extent, ever.

I'd rather see an update to the NateAIM channel than watch any of these individuals soliciting for free gear to review. I don't even bother with the opinions of the later on any social media platform. It is pretty clear who is looking for handouts from those who buy their own for "testing." Instagram and the Tube is a cesspool of it from survival professionals to everyday gents.

Then again, these popular gear & outdoor mags are mostly ad fluff sprinkled with "expert writers" plugging gear and marketing under the guise of knowledge.

the vehicle is not nearly as important as the driver.

One of the issues that a CPK pattern like the FK will potentially face by a YouTube influencer would be it's ability or there lack of checking all the boxes when it relates to their likely tests for "survival". We have already been down this road before and Nathan had been very adamant about chamfering his knives and not considering the 90 degree spine which the survivalist types seek to throw copious spark showers off of their ferrocerium rods. This does not bother me because I don't buy knives for that proverbial survival aspect. Don't do it Nate :)

Just a random thought, maybe have someone do a video of the shop, production process, quality control and real world testing?

How absolutely true, but that doesn't speak to the fact that there are far too many vehicles and drivers on the road that create chaos regularly.

just reinforces the fact that it pays to be picky :)

I would prefer no additional publicity on the quality of Nathan's work be exposed to the General Public! Let's keep CPK's Outstanding Heat Treatment (of D3V) and craftsmanship as quiet and low keyed as possible! It should remain "OUR LITTLE SECRET":p
