I am considering this knife or the chinook II. Anybody have experience with zero tolerance knives. The flipper/assisted opening seems like a plus under stress. Would a recurve spear point be good for thrusting purposes? Thanks.

I like the 0200 a lot but feel the ZT 0400 would be a better thruster blade than the 0200 or the 0300 series because of the more penetrating purposeful point and design of the thinner blade (less like a big spade). The locks on the Zero Tolerance knives are all very stout and strong. The 300 series is .190 thick titanium and the 0200 and 0400 are .080 hardened stainless. Believe it or not that means they rate to be just about as strong as that much thicker slab of titanium. In my own tests of the locks on the ones I've had and so far I've had the chance to play with all of them they passed every attempt to make them defeat. I think they are quite strong and reliable. Are they as strong and reliable as the Chinook? I doubt it personally just by design but I doubt you'd have problems with any of them.

I would trust the ZT0200 with my life, I can draw and deploy the blade as fast as any knife I have, the recurve blade is a very impresive cutter, it would be a good thrust weapon but a world class slash weapon. Falnovice did some impressive testing on the latest pass, here is a link (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=434154&page=4) it is very comfortable in both the traditional saber grip and reverse grip and the scales provide excelent grip even with gloves and cold wet hands. It is a big and heavy knife to carry but I find it is both comfortable to carry and fast to deploy, it is one impressive knife. I have no experience with the chinook for comparison though.

knives in general should never be your first choice for self deffense. Zt knives are awsome. I own a 302 and have never been so happy with a production. Most people who think of knives as a first line of deffense are knife technique trainers with something to sell and even then many preffer a larger fixed blade. Get the ZT for a knife and you will never be unhappy. Get a gun for self deffense.

Sure guns are great, I've had a carry permit for 25 plus years. Can't carry at work or on school grounds where I'm at several times a week if not daily. Can't carry out of state (most).

To hard to carry while working out , and on and on and on .

A knife I can carry in state and out, at work at school in the gym Hell I can swim with one if I choose, and when we go to the beach by boat I do swim a shore with a Spyderco. Thats one of the great things about knives they go almost everywhere! One will be going out of country with me in a couple weeks .

As far as the 0200, mine is in route via UPS at this very time. :) Oh as far as that photo from Tad Gear, I ordered the last PE one they had, I'm sure you'll find it else where .

Most schools treat knives as weapons and have a zero tolerance stance on the matter. Also carrying a knife in another state can get you into trouble to. Dont take anything flickable to NY or its a gravity knife. Also dont take a carry pocket knife into the UK atm. But I hear yah, they can go some places guns cant. Still I went to the federal building the other day and they made me take my small pocket folder back out to my car before entering. You will love your 200, grats if you can wear it to your school, I have to leave mine when I go to main campus. :(
