The California Toothpick style of knife seems to have been around for sometime.

Anybody have a favorite maker to recommend?

The only toothpick I've seen called "California" is the one by Buck. I have one in brown pick bone, and it's really nice for about $35 on line. The big brown truck brought me another full size (5" closed) toothpick just today, It's a Bulldog brand, hammer forged carbon steel and smooth red bone with a "2000" shield. On first inspection it's finished nicer than the Buck, but I haven't had a chance to sharpen it up and give it a work out. My only other toothpick is a mini by Case in autumn bone and SS. Nice pocket jewelry!

The Schatt & Morgan is an excellent knife. I highly recommend any of their knives.

Another name for these knives is *Tickler* or *Texas Tickler*.
