Post your Danitz Knives!!

Action shots, poser shots, anything! If you’ve got a knife made by DanitzKnives DanitzKnives share it here!

I just got this bowie chopper yesterday, and have been getting a feel for it. Fantastic knife.

1/4” thick 80CRV2 steel with a 10 3/4” blade, overall length of 15 1/2”, and a 5 3/8” handle. Black Micarta handle with red G10 pins.

It came with a well-made case. I’ve commissioned a sheath from Shawn Marker (Mountaineer Leather) in black leather with red thread double stitching. It will match the handle of this knife nicely.

Some action with the DanitzKnives DanitzKnives Bowie Chopper!

Did some wood processing. Chopped and batoned through this hardwood with ease, and encountered no edge problems whatsoever. Very tough knife.

When I chopped through this piece I really pushed this knife hard. I took a bunch of heavy full-strength swings at this hardwood to see how the edge would hold up, and it passed with flying colors. Absolutely flawless geometry and heat treat as far as I’ve experienced so far.

Testing out the fine carving capabilities of this knife with a head statue and a short Mors Kochanski try stick.

The try stick is stripped and smoothed, and has a rounded bowdrill tip, saddle notch, 7-notch, round reduction, square reduction, V-notch, bail hook, lashing groove, and wedge end.

BTW, I'm a fan of blue'ed coating because it's really easy to fix .... not that it's needed :)

I have another shorter one incoming - it's with the sheath maker now, can't wait. Cheers !

Roland.

Finally arrived yesterday. Gorgeous knife, and handle is very comfortable for large hands.

Great looking sheath! Out of curiosity, is the sheath lined with anything to prevent scratches or is it just the makers fit that's so good? The times I've tried to make kydex sheaths they always seem to scratch the blade at least a little.

Thanks, DK, and also for the knife, again !

It's not lined. I have lots of sheaths that scratch the blades, also a couple from him. The way I understand it (never made a sheath myself), he buffers the knife with tape (for additional space), and the sheath has to be absolutely clean before riveting it together. The Kydex actually doesn't scratch the blade, but dirt on the Kydex does. But I'm just a user ....

Thank you for the reply. I've read similar information. Things to adjust and try in the future I suppose. Enjoy the sheath and knife!
