Recommendation? My Mistress is lonely.

Howdy folks,

It’s been a while since I wandered in these parts. My mistress is lonely and seeking a companion in the 5 1/2 to 7 inch range. The NFNO looks great. The SHE2 also seems just right. I’ve been looking but haven’t been able to find a nice side-by-side comparison of the two. Does anyone out there have both? If so, and you could share that would be great! I’d like to hear opinions on how they stack up in terms of of handle feel, general usability, and balance.

I don't have a SHE2, but I do have a BG FBM and a BG FSH and a NFNO.

Man it has been a while since I have seen that square bottom sheath.

Might I suggest the FHFG RMD it would be a great companion.

The Alpha Dog 6 or the Dog Soldier 8 are both great if you love Resi C as much as I do.

If you aren't a big Resi C fan (I guess it's possible?), the NFNO or the classic ASH1s are both excellent companions as well as the aforementioned FHFG Infidu mentioned by Mr. Brown.

I have certainly been eyeing the Infidu, and the HOG Badger caught my eye, it made me miss my old SHBA.

I suppose what I’m looking for is the Goldilocks knife. Good for belt carry, can handle wood processing/food/camp chores, and is al around useful.

Don't have a SHE2, but I have a BME2 and it's currently my favorite chopper handle. (Would have a SHE2 if I didn't already have so many other 7-8" blades around.)

I like the fusion handle, but not quite as much. On my fat BG FSH I did some sanding to round it out more in a couple of spots with good results. Haven't handled any nano fusion models yet.

You picked a good time to be in the market, no matter what you grab. Tons of great stuff coming up on the Exchange lately.

Hard to beat the InfiDu, have a couple and one is always in the car - The Hog Badger is an amazing blade and would be an excellent choice for your parameters. Imcq784 also has a good pick with the NFNO too - can't go wrong and to be fair, can't beat that handle in big or small

Honestly, I live the RMD/INFIdu platform. It's a very nice utilitarian companion to a bigger knife.

The AD6 Is a great suggestion as well.

But with a Battle Mistress, you can get away with something much smaller add the companion... A good Battle Grade small blade. That's what I'd do. Big INFI, for strength, toughness, and brute force; add an SR-101 small blade when you need detailed work or a very keen edge.

That's a good point. Thinking of the stated 5.5" to 7" range, there's a world of difference between a RMD or JMD vs. something like the BG Hell Razor, FSH, or SHE2. Guessing though that if the OP is looking at a SHE2 he's got smaller blades covered.

My BG FBM is in the same combo btw, tasty.

The AD6 is supremely comfortable in hand thanks to the Res-C. I love the RMD, but the extra inch from the AD6 makes it an even more versatile 1-knife camp shore (non-chopping) and utility knife. I personally prefer it over the NFNO, but the Nano Fusion handle does give more grip options.

The Forsaken Steel Heart is 8”, while the TGULB is 7-3/4” as marketed. Just putting them here for size comparison purposes.

The NFNO has arrived. I am quite pleased with it. The size, weight, balance, and blade shape are just what I needed. The handle is pretty damn sweet, I appreciate the non-pointy butt (I may radius the middle hump a bit.).

Now I NEED to get out of this house so I can put her to work!
