Kizer Cormorant issue

I purchased a Cormorant back at Christmas time. After about a week of carrying, it started to make a noticeable ticking sound. I've contacted Kizer to explain the situation and they have responded. Unfortunately because I live in Canada they said they could not guarantee that I would get my knife back.
I then contacted the store I got it from. They said to try and find someone to help repair it.
I'm just wondering if this is a normal solution for this type of problem?
Is there someone out there that could possible help in the repair?

Have you tried taking it apart, tightening the screws, cleaning, and oiling it?

Second post I've read today about Canadians being unable to send their knife in for maintenance in fear of not getting it back. Many such cases.
