This is an interesting knife -

David Boye tweezer lock knife.

BDS (= Boye Dendritic Steel) (cast 440C), nickle silver "tweezer" handle - cocobolo insert - bear claw etching - friction folder.

This is the clever bit(s) -

The tweezer handle clamps/snaps/locks the blade closed:

This was handmade by David Boye when he was still hand making knives - shown by the "Boye" mark - as described my post about his legendary 2" dropped edge shown in the size comparison.

David has stopped hand making knives in favor of producing his BDC (= Boye Dendritc Cobalt) boat knives - that's an early folder with the blue handle, when he was still hand making them - can see he merely drilled the "S" in "BDS" to make it a "C".

What do you use for the black back ground, or ho do you photograph a knife on a black back drop?

Hi Scott,

There's a summary of "how to" in the previous thread:

For black background I use a piece of black felt/flock material from hobby/craft store:

For my backgrounds - just black or white - ...
...
Black is almost as simple - although I have to select the knife, invert the selection, then turn everything else to minimum brightness and contrast - ie: black as it can get.
Cannot use fill tool, as the felt material has too much texture and the camera picks up all that detail, the fill will either not be complete, or filling between the fibers and exaggerating the texture - exactly opposite to intention.

Hope that helps.
