I just got this Randall Model 2-8" dagger from my next door neighbor, whose uncle, Herbert Hart, carried it "day and night" in combat during WWII. It has a Heiser sheath. In exchange for my father and I putting up a new fence for my neighbor, I was given this knife along with some German daggers the original owner brought back from the war. I'm very young as far as collectors go and still relatively new to collecting, so I never expected to come across something this nice. In my searching, I haven't really found anything about Model 2's during that period. Are they rare, and does anyone have info on production numbers of #2-8"s? This one will be a lifetime keeper for sure. I'm exited to hear y'all's thoughts about it.
Photos: I have included a note that was with the knife, as well as a photo of its original owner, Herbert Hart. Although the knife is not in the photo, he was likely wearing it when it was taken. He was a Captain in the 191'st Field Artillery, and was awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
