Back in November of last year I got my first taste of Scott’s knives when I managed to score two Big Boar Tuskers here on the exchange (thanks, Happy!)
I had seen Gossman mentioned a few times in some of the other forums here that I frequent, and I figured if fans of Busse, Carothers, etc., appreciated them, they must be worth a look. I didn’t realize how special Gossman Knives were until I had them in my hand, however.
I don’t have the experience, or most of all, the time(!) to write a detailed review of any of these blades, but I’ve heard people talk about how knives can have a “spirit” of their own—they are imbued with a piece of their maker, through their expertise, attention to detail, maybe even something a little more elusive. Something about these has made me a believer.
Left to right: 3V PSK, O1 WTK, CPM 154 Polaris, 3V Puukko, M4 Deer Creek, A2 5” BBT, 3V 8” BBT, 4V 8” BBT, S7 10” BBT 2.0, A2 Kubo
I’ve obviously got the bug!
So anyway, that is my growing Gossman family. And you may be asking why I’ve titled this thread, “Two New Families”? Well, to my regret, I have not been able to get out and use these babies hard yet. That’s because my wife and I had our first child (a boy) last September, and I haven’t felt right about leaving them at home while I trek off yet... Hopefully an opportunity comes along soon for me to take these (steel and micarta) babies on the trail soon, however! I’ve been thinking about it obsessively since last November, after all.
