304 SS

Anyone use this for guards and bolsters?
Comments about it?? I found a bunch of 3/8 flat for sale cheep. I'm assuming its 304 as it has no magnetic pull at all and its been outside for quit a while. I know it polishes up good.

I bought some 3/4 by 3/4, 304 for making stainless lugged guards. It mills well and is easy to work and also shines up easy on the grinder.

That's nice to hear, a buddy gave me a short bar of 3/8 too that's going to contribute to kitchen knife bolsters.

I did a search for it last night on eBay, didn't find anything useful, but did find some nice big chunks of brass and copper, and lots of sheet stock.

The only problem that I have found is that it is difficult to drill unless you use a lot of oil and slow speed.

George and Michael have you encountered any problem soldering 304???
I have not been able to find anyone listing 304 pinning material. Will 303 rod work as the chrome and nickel contents are the same?
I think 416 pins will show because of the lower chrome and no nickel content.

I have a bunch of 3/16" stuff. Alan Folts has used it, and he liked it. I think 303 will pin well to it, should blend in well.
