After meeting a friend from the forums (granitestateofmind) for lunch, Amanda and I drove the Jeep down some old logging roads that go out by a pond and a river we like to visit.

Here are some pictures of the trip.

When we got to the pond Becker had to jump in.

Around the pond there were hundreds of young toads. It was hard to walk without feeling like you were going to step on them. They were a little bigger than an eraser on a pencil.

After the pond we drove down to road to a few spots on the river. Along the way Amanda spotted some Chaga!

After that we walked down a trail to the river.

I didn't do much with it today but it was along for the ride.

Along the river we found and Elderberry bush. We will be back when it is time to pick the berries.

A cool tree with the leaves all in line. This was the only one like it in the immediate area.

Followed the logging road until it turned into this. Then kept going.

Found another section of river. This time I could drive my Jeep right down to it.

We had a great time getting away.

Thanks for viewing.

A Yuma, the woman, a Jeep and a dog, awesome time sir! That's pretty cool looking rock for sure.

Looks like a good little outing...I did have to Google what Chaga is though:confused:

Looks like a good day out man, thanks for sharing.

Great pictures. It looked like it was a beautiful day.

Are you scheming tea or fire with your chaga?

This score will be used for tea. I have a bunch for fire though.

It was a fun day. Too bad I didn't have anything new to test, like a stove or something.

I think this is how rumors get started...

Anyways, the Yuma is great!

Jasper is a good alternative to flint.
elderberries are in full swing here - I converted 2 gallons of berries into a gallon of "pourable fruit" Saturday. (i.e. jam that didn't set)
