Well...finally got my small collection of FiddleBacks together for a group shot. I've been waiting for quite a while to be holding these all at the same time, but figured I should take a picture to help some folks out in characterizing different models handles / blades / relevant dimensions for their own purposes. Here's a few comparison photos that will hopefully assist:

This first photo is a side shot: Left to Right: Hiking Buddy, BushFinger, Arete, and Terrasaur

Next, a spine shot of the same. Each is 1/8" thick...this helps to compare the girth of the handles + length. Apologies that the Hiking Buddy isn't as lined up as I'd hoped.

Today I was the lucky recipient of a couple RainWalker sheaths. First up, my bushcraft sheath for the Bushfinger. This one is phenomenal. Jeff (Rainwalker) made an adjustable / removable belt hanger, to allow for horizontal carry....and carried the design interest into a removable firesteel loop for the front, in piggy-back format. The coloring is designed to match the handle configuration...what Jeff has coined a bit of "Walking Dead" theme :D

This is the kicker. I had asked Jeff to make me a sheath for the 12" Machete. My primary objective was to make sure it would be Molle Compatible, since this is how I would typically carry this blade. What arrived today was beyond my imagination. It's quasi-military, with a rustic background. It showed up with an additional surprise....it's lined with Kydex!! A fantastic sheath. As I mentioned to Jeff....if Michael Douglas was doing a remake of Romancing the Stone, this would be the sheath he used for his Machete!!

Thanks for the compairison pics brother, you've got some nice blades there. I'm liking those sheaths also very nice congrats nice score.

Man! That is a nice collection. I don't think I've ever seen a more extensive matched Fiddleback collection. I wonder if Machete Specialists has any of the black handled machetes left?

Erich has the mos of any one model I think! Although Park has a pretty good collection of Woodsmen.

Thanks guys...it is a great set. I purchased more than I need, primarily to compare them side by side and get a feel for them "in hand". My hat is off to Mr. Roy, as these babies are just awesome. I posted this in haste last night, this requires a bit more detail...

My favorite of the 4" is the BushFinger. It just "fits" me. From the handle, to the blade design...thIis is a working knife. Erich, that is a SWEET collection of Fingers!! /jealous!

The Arete will find a new home. It doesn't feel as natural to me, in hand....I think because of the shorter handle / blade ratio. love the spear-point though, and could see this being a HARD user.

I haven't decided what to make of the Terrasaur. I may end up sending her off for a full zero-edge convexing, and using her as a B&T knife. Although she could handle it...I probably won't use her over the Finger in most cases.

Now the sweet one, as RN has pointed out above. The Hiking Buddy. Yes sir...1/8" and convexed. She's light in the hand...and just a DREAM of a knife! I'm in love. Just got her yesterday, so I have not had a chance to really feel her out...but wow, the balance and elegance of this blade is just staggering. She'll be off to Jeff soon for a good pouch sheath.

I would love to get a 12" custom made with the Black on Black (w/ Orange Stripe) to match the set. My go to is going to be the 12" Machete paired with the Hiking Buddy and a 4"er of choice. The sheath Jeff made is freaking outstanding...and my pictures don't begin to tell the story. I can't wait to put it through the paces. You can't see it in the picture, but it is attached to the pack via the molle straps.

Erich, that is a Mystery Ranch pack. Superb gear.

Adam, no toys in this room...it's my office! Stay out, kiddo. :D

Thanks Andy, these are great knives.

Andy's beautiful knives and Dana's beautiful Mystery Ranch pack.

You sir, have exquisite taste in gear!

1/8" convexed HB??!! When did you bag that one and how did it sneak by me?!

It's like a mythical beast! ;) :)

Nice sheath!! Do you have rainwalkers contact info? I have a nice hiking buddy that would look good in a sheath like that!

Dude - When I designed the Arete - I didn't care about looks - I didn't have any 'look' in mind - just function. But Andy's 3d Spalting and those colors makes the design look so bad assed. Function and Beauty.

Makes me want to order another.... but I don't think I need three...

Ahhh - to hell with 'NEED'.

I've got that exact same backpack and have not once regretted buying it. I also have the Recluse in that handle config you have been collecting. If I ever sell it I'll message you first.
