I enjoy odd, old, modded, different blade shaped, different tool set, SAKs. We all know and love the SD Classic, but how many of you have the Escort, lighter and smaller, one layer, no scissors? Or the Princess, replacing the nail file screwdriver with the pointed nail cleaner? Or the Pharmacist, a special order not available to the public, one layer, pill counter/pack opener as the only tool besides the blade? I have mine yellow/white, advertising Cardizem and Lortab (if you have an Ativan or Neuronrin SAK of any kind let me know, will buy)

What about the Electrician blade (what's the easiest way to get this and that curved little alox one?) Or their Wharncliffe? Not their sheepfoot, the proper Wharncliffe?

I recently got a model called the Drifter. Like the Minichamp without the pen and the screwdriver/opener on the Rambler. Has the Wharncliffe small "emergency blade". This got me thinking about this. It is close to midnight and my girlfriend is asleep on the couch next to me so I will post photos tomorrow of my oldest, most original, least represented ones, from me and the factory.

Please show me yours - my SAK knowledge is minimal and I want to see those unsung, old and rare SAKs!

Concerning the Victorinox/Wenger(?)/SAK Warncliffe blade:
Is it a small 58mm (Mini Champ/Rambler) only or is/was there a now discontinued 84/91/93mm or larger model that has a Wharncliffe replacing the normal spear point primary or pen blade secondary?

Has Victorinox or Wenger ever produced a 84/91/93mm, or perhaps a 108 to 130mm military contract model, with a clip point primary blade, or small clip point secondary blade?

The Day Packer is a single blade model with a clip point-ish blade.

Love those nylon single blades. Gearing to post my pics soon, have a couple oddballs.

In their nomenclature, the 58mm Wharncliffe you see on the knife above is the "Emergency" blade, their "Wharncliffe" was this:

Rare and beautiful. I want one of these.

Also, I cannot identify the SAK in my original post for the life of me - can someone tell me what it is?

It's the original version of the minichamp, before it had a pen and before it had the combo cap lifter tool.

Here's a discontinued 58mm Victorinox Mate that I picked up NOS (shown with scales I swapped from a Classic). There's a similar model called the Vagabond with a Phillips driver on the cap lifter.

Another atypical model that I picked up recently is the Winemaster, which as the name suggests has tools geared towards opening wine bottles

Love that WineMaster. I have last year's Damasteel Picnicker I'll have to post a pic of when I get home later!

Thanks! I debated about picking it up but I'm so glad I did. It's silly how much I dig this thing. I haven't let anyone else in the house open a bottle of wine since I got it šŸ¤£

Based on my research, this seems to be the most commonly available version of the 84mm Golfer. It has a stainless steel shield, an early version of the combo tool with no half-stop, a fluted 4 turn corkscrew, the usual crossbow on the tang of the knife, and no nail file on the back of the scissor layer. If you were looking for an 84mm Golfer, then this is what you would be most likely to find. Other versions of the 84mm Golfer can supposedly have a secondary blade instead of the combo tool, or a later version of the combo tool, and some 84mm Golfers will also have a back side fingernail file. The ones with a file on the back are more desirable.

This is a close-up of the old combo tool from the Golfer next to the most current version of the combo tool from a Waiter. The top is angled instead of curved. The tip is also different. The newer combo tool is better for opening cans than the old one is.

Scissors from 4 different SAK sizes. From top to bottom: 58mm, 74mm, 84mm, 91mm.

I also have an 84mm Electrician, but I never took pictures of it. It's sitting in a box along with the factory made Victorinox Scientist that I scored for like 20 or 30 bucks. I've seen them go for hundreds and I somehow managed to get one for basically nothing. šŸ˜ I also have a few other rare/discontinued SAKs but my favorite ones are the ones that I custom built for myself. It's really fun and rewarding to do if you have the extra time and the spare cash to buy parts with. You can buy a lot of used SAKs and turn them into customs if you just put out the time and effort. It's not as hard as you might think it is.

I only have older ones. Two are stainless and one carbon steel.

ā€˜Atypicalā€™ is such a broad subjectā€¦not sure where Iā€™d start!

Let's see it! Those are absolutely gorgeous but I wasn't primed to spend the money when it came out.
