I have just taken delivery of a BM730.
What a beefy, tuff sucker.
I never realized that this model is such a powerhouse.
I just love the smooth action of the Axis lock.
The way it pulls the blade to the closed position is rather pleasing as well.
Another thing that surprised me was the very good fit and finish.

The only other Axis lock I have is a BM550.
When the blade is open the locking pin rides forward and stops almost at the front of the slots.

In the 730 however, the locking pin only goes about ½ way up the slot.
Is this acceptable?
The lockup seems tight enough, but pin only just sits on the back of the blade.

Your input and comparisons to your Axis locks would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You are probably better off with the 730. All it means is that there is more room for the Axis pin to "self-adjust" over time as wear sets in. The pin will have more room to move to the front. This is one of the best aspects of the Axis lock. It is almost totally impervious to wear.

Good luck with the 730. It's a great all-around knife, IMHO.:)

oupa, I have the 735BM which is the same as your's only with green G-10 instead of purple. I've read that dirt in the locking mechanisem can cause failure, however the bigger problem IMHO is the surprisingly small contact surface with the handle. so I think that due to extensive use and oppening of the blade, despite the adjustable tenssion screw, it will loose it's percision fit.
