I was recently asked about batoning the UNK. Have no fears, the knife can take it. One tough piece of steel. Mine is CPM154 and with Scott's grind, I have not had a problem batoning for the last year and a half. Knots and all. Ask Scott, he has seen my batoning stump and watched me make kindling from split firewood rounds. The photo below was a piece of maple.

Well, mine has not done any battening as yet, but it has breasted out some NZ Merriam Turkeys and cut the back straps out of some wild goats... :)

It also helped to dispatch a wild cat and cut the legs off an old buck rabbit for the dog.

Love this knife!

Scott, all I can say is that has given me a whole new appreciation for smaller knives! Its a pleasure to carry, great to use and the guys at camp enjoyed it also. I would also certainly entertain a larger version, say 4 to 5" blade - for those general camp chores where a longer handle would benefit. But there is probably few camp chores that the UNK could not perform really.
