Doc:

I recently purchased a number of your tapes (fire starting, shelter, trapping, and survival bag) - all of which were excellent.

In one of the tapes you make and drink bee soup. Question: do you have to remove the stingers and wings first? It did not look like you did on the tape. Thanks.

Kevin

I'm not Ron but...

You do not need to remove the stinger... it softens when boilded and is also considered harmless at that point.

As long as it doesn't harden again while coming out the other end!!!!

Thanks for the kind words!

Nah, the stinger will soften after a few moments of boiling. If you want to play around, drop some bees in for different amounts of time to see when the stinger softens to an acceptable degree. For me about a minute does the trick.

The "poison" is a modified protein that cooks very quickly and denatures to calories in very low temps. Even if the stinger was hard the nasty stuff would just be food.

oh and of course rattlesnake.
Actually rattlesnake is quite good if cleaned and cooked right. It doesn't taste like chicken unless you smoother the chicken and
snake in b-bq sause.
Ihave never tasted bee soup(confession)but
will have to try some. It's probably hard
to describe. Kinda like minnow stew it really
doesn't taste fishy when you cook everything
together insides and all and add a little
salt. Dang now i'm hungry.
