Blade coating

I'll put it this way...I have a DLC 5.1...I have a 7/7 DLC on the way. Nuff said.

What are your thoughts on this coating? How has it stood up to use? Is the coating thinner and smoother than coating on other knives you have? Do you like the coating?

G10 and less slick, but the G10 IMO could be sanded with some sandpaper to give it some extra bite and would be way better and closer to my personal preference. You milage will vary. I will be buying a set of micarta scales for my 3.5 and at that time I might play with the G10 to see if I can "scuff" it up.
I know a lot of people like the G10 and you can get it in really nice colors, but for me its a tool and I want it to be functional first, the scale colors are not that important to me. The hand feel and amount of grip is more important to me. Again, all this is my preference and I'm not knocking anyone for the way they like their knives.

This is especially helpful. But dang, the G10 must be smooth! I like the idea of G10 being more wear-resistant and less absorbant, but I need some grip too. I guess I'll keep weighing all the options. Thanks!
 
Silver, as promised here are some pictures of the coated 5.1 I received today, and wow am I impressed. It came with camo canvas scales but I replaced them with these black scales I had on my uncoated 5.1 and I think I'm in love. SURVIVE! did this DLC coating very well. I think this just became the perfect knife for me.





 
Dude, that is so sexy, yet still the meanest looking S!K I've ever seen. Good call with the black on black on black.

Definitely give us an update once you've beaten on it for awhile.

Let me know if I'm missing out on a good place to to find GSO's I never saw that one.

EDIT: I feel like Guy and Ellie should see those pics!
