Custom Tactical Folders?

Beauty to me lies in function. Materials that are beautiful in appearance are quite often expensive. Give me micarta over presentation grade MOP any day.

I've always felt that tactical folders are identified by their look, period. Supreme Court Justice Stewart once famously said that while he could not readily define the term “hard-core” pornography, he said “ but I know it when I see it.” Ditto with tacticals. And whoever suggested that Damascus-bladed folders are not to be classified as tactical, given the "tactical" look", didn't take a good enough look at the images below when posted a few months ago:

OOoooooh, I LOVE, LOVE those!!! Those are exquisite!!!

I'll state my OPINION.

A tactical folder should have a coated, satin, or bead blast blade. I disagree with Les Robertson on natural handle materials ... stag can be a better grip than G10. A tactical folder should have a pocket clip. A tactical folder should not be shiny or polished.

Also my OPINION...

99% of what is considered art does nothing for me and a lot of it I consider fugly.

My OPINION is much like my asshole, it stinks... but dammit, it's mine.

Nice!!^
But the Bowie point is weak.
:D

I mostly agree with Matt on the definition of tactical, but don't see how generally speaking, natural is superior to synthetic....synthetic is less expensive and much more easily replaced if damaged, and will hold up better to HARD use.

Bowie tips are fine for a tactical blade if you keep to cutting flesh and don't try to dig with them, or pry open crates...the finer point is much more useful for say digging out a splinter than a spear or tanto point.

Gotta match up the tool to intended use.

STeven Garsson

enough about your asshole!
