I have to agree with Yvsa's assessment of animals and zombification.

Thank God the virus requires them to seek and consume the brains of their own kind!
 
Where DID I read that story?

Some guy, somewhere, raised an elk calf to harness and trotted him into the rural town with some regularity.

He should have had the animal neutered, for once puberty kicked in, the ride to town (their last together) went by way of the forest in the area rather than the road, with the cart or wagon suffering somewhat from its use as a chaperon carrier on the elk's first date.

Deer in the house? Only happens with shiny windows. Yet another reason to NOT wash windows.
