French Knife Sharpener

Craig, you mentioned that you have a white French kitchen knife sharpener. Have you ever used it to sharpen khukuris? The reason I'm asking this is because I'm going to get one of your WWIIs for a cousin of mine, and he has one of those sharpeners, as well as a butcher's steel. He says that he doesn't plan to use it, but I want his WWII to be sharp and ready. Will the kitchen knife sharpener work o.k.?

I'm definitely not the sharpening guru of bladeforums, but I do use my fixed kitchen sharpener (I'll try to post a pic eventually) and it works very quickly, putting a razor-sharp edge on my personal khukuri. Now, for chopping, I don't suggest a razor-sharp edge (may cause micro-chipping of the blade), but the kitchen sharpener will do. Of course, the Peter J Frye custom sharpeners I sell are also good, but take a little practice to learn to use properly. They do work nicely, though.
